Remembering Old SG-1 Episodes.

Stargate SG-1 has come and gone many years ago now, but there's one scene that has stuck in my head and I can't recall which episode or season it was in.

Our heroes arrive through a gate and find themselves on a civilized world similar to Earth, with a similar tech level comparable to Earth's but maybe half a century behind and different in certain respects: they're met by dozens of ground troops who are backed up by steampunkish battle balloons and an armoured car (which trains its turret upon the team). Which episode was that? Help me please.

Memento from Season 6? It's the only one I can think of with "steampunkish battle balloons and armoured cars." Though the team arrived on the planet via the starship Prometheus, and had to seel local help in finding the planet's Stargate.

I don't think so. There was a planet that had airships I believe, but they were just in the background and had nothing to do with the story.

Thanks for refreshing my memory.

Also I'm part way through my Season 5 DVD boxset marathon and I really liked the Aschen from "2001" (and they also featured in S4's "2010"). They had more potential than the unoriginal Orii and it's a shame they've been written out after just two episodes, but I guess that blackhole probably got them.

I think there were plans to bring them back in season 7, where they put SG-1 on trial for the black hole thing. The jury would have consisted of various races, with Thor presiding as judge.

I'm serious, details here.

I think that I would have liked that. Though it seems that they reused the idea of the Atlantis season 5 episode Inquisition.

I'd like to see it if only to see all the races in the jury...

That's the part that bugs me about it. Galactic court? Where did that come from? Why would these races agree to be part of it, and why would Thor be allowed judge since he's obviously prejudiced toward the humans?

Were you watching the same show? Thor was not as bad (and ultimately self-destructive) as the Tollans were in terms of dealing with Stargate Command and his hands were tied fighting one of the most destructive intergalactic conflicts ever.

I meant in the sense that he was rather fond of them, and SG-1 had saved his gray little butt on quite a few occasions. I don't see him as an impartial judge because of his feelings about humans and SG-1 in particular.

You opinion makes sense now, not that it matters much anymore since the 2nd (and last) episode featuring the Aschen was aired a decade ago and the show they were on ended about half a decade ago already.
