I'm a big supporter of the new film but I can't stand the new ship. I just happen to come across this and I remembered how everyone went crazy as they were worried that it might be the real deal.

Compared to what actually looks like, I'm starting to think that this actually isn't that bad! The saucer's a mess but other than that, it looks right.

In the image, the secondary hull has an almost Ent-E quality to it. I think the current design could have been improved simply by making the bussard collectors red and extending the secondary hull. As it stands, I think it's too top heavy but preferable to TMP Ent or TOS Ent.

Ah, now there's a ship designed by someone who knows the proper amount of nacelles a starship should have, the proper size of nacelles and the proper way to do a registry number. Why couldn't we have more ships like this in the movie?

I really think this ship design could have done wonders for the Trek franchise. It would both satisfy even the most hardcore of Trek fans while also providing interest in non-fans who would see this cool looking ship and say "hey, I got to see that movie. Any movie with a ship that cool-looking is worth my time." Consider the implications.

This is a brilliant design by Vektor, and I thought so at the time - although I wasn't sanguine about it as the new Enterprise. I do prefer what Church came up with.

That's certainly an interesting design. Still, it comes across as much more of a departure from the original than what we got. It just isn't clean enough.

I love the design with which Ryan Church has come up, but I think John Eaves' old NX-01 design would have been a good NCC-1701, too.

I have a few reservations about some parts of the new ship, but that design shown in the pic in the OP is much worse. It's like some awful amalgam of 1701, the 1701E and NX01. Really bad.
