Religion in Voyager and Enterprise

I'm working on an article, and I've been able to identify what I need from TOS and TNG. I've never been a huge fan of VOY, however, and ENT is just a meh for me. For both of them, I watch them if they're on and there's nothing else I'd rather see, so I'm just not familiar with them they way I am with TOS and TNG.

I'm trying to develop a quick list of VOY and ENT episodes which feature religious themes. I'm not looking for just casual references, but rather episodes where religious faith, or a god or gods (whether genuine or false, real or mythic) are a significant part of the plot.

Anybody care to chime in?

Mortal Coil. One of the episodes of Voyager I'd call genuinely good.
And, for a different kind of spirituality, maybe the Omega Directive, in regards to Seven's religion-like awe in regards to the Omega Molecule?

Some other examples from VOY would be "Sacred Ground," "Coda," "Emanations," "False Profits," "Prophecy," "Tattoo," and "Barge of the Dead," although none of these deal with God or gods directly. To some extent, "Caretaker" qualifies, as the Ocampa had an elevated view of the Caretaker (as suggested by the name), and that ties in to "Cold Fire."

As you said, ENT is just meh, so can't help there.

In Dear Doctor you have Phlox playing God...does that count?

The Sphere Builders were God-like to the Xindi. I think the called them "Guardians"

"CHOSEN REALM" in ENTERPRISE season 3 deals with religious fanatics.

The Sphere Builders are thought of as gods by the Xindi, but we don't really learn that until toward the end of the season.

Given that Vulcan thought has been sometimes described as mysticism and has ceremonial qualities, perhaps the Syrranite trilogy from season 4 of Enterprise (The Forge, Awakening, Kirshara)?

These are the best ones I can recommend for ENT.

The Andorian Incident & Shadows of P’Jem (S1) – deals with the use of a monastery for espionage purposes, and the consequences of its destruction. Watch them back to back.

Cold Front (S1) – although its more of a Temporal Cold War story, it deals with pilgrims on their way to see The Great Plume of Agosoria in the first act. And Archer’s mention of keeping an open mind when questioned if he had a faith is of importance to his interaction with Daniels.

Chosen Realm (S3) – deals with religious fanaticism

Kir’Shara arc (S4) – deals with religious reformation
