References to the Prequel Trilogy?

At one point:
"balance in the Force" is mentioned.
As far as other possible references,
There is a reference to an original Jedi Temple, which by extension relates to the (one or more) later Jedi Temples.

Also there is a droid at Maz's place which (design-wise) is similar to a certain droid in The Clone Wars, and if you check its databank entry it used to be owned by the Jedi Order...

Phily B, your spoiler tags aren't working.

The spoiler /spoiler tags have to be UPPERCASE, it seems.

They don't have to be uppercase, but it's bracket spoiler=whatever you want the topic to be close bracket.

The Visual Guide Book reveals that Hosnian Prime was only the temporary capital of the New Republic. That it rotates to different planets which are members of the New Republic after periods of time. Explaining that this helped many members of the Old Republic to return. Particularly ones which tired to leave during the Clone Wars. Coruscant was avoided to distance from all that history and its association with the Empire.

I am curious what this means for the sequels. Clearly the writers did not want to destroy Coruscant.

About that:

It's official: Both Ewan McGregor and Frank Oz are part of TFA. They both lend their voices to Rey's flashback moment, with Ewan's Obi-Wan saying, "Rey … these are your first steps."

Very cool. :techman:

Can we edit a spoiler tag in the thread title, btw? I edited my posts in spoilers to be careful and everything else in the thread so far is vague enough, but it wouldn't hurt.

I'm sorry, but I can't seem to edit any of my posts in any threads -- my edit button is gone. Is this a glitch?

That that even necessary? Any references to the prequels would be spoilers. At this point any discussion of this film should be considered filled spoilers.

You're only able to edit a post within the first 24 hours after it was posted. After that, editing is no longer an option.

Huh, I never knew about that. But then again, my posts are almost damn near perfect, dammit.

"At one point, Hayden Christensen would return as the Force ghost of Anakin Skywalker. He'd appear as himself to Rey as as Darth Vader to Kylo Ren, since Anakin is the first Jedi to embrace both the Light and the Dark Side"

And this is the supposed concept art:

Further to that;

It's both McGregor and Guinness as Obi-Wan, while Oz's dialogue ultimately wasn't used, with them opting for some pre-existing Yoda dialogue from Empire instead.

From the comments at the link:
"This is the kind of EU garbage I don't want creeping into the films. He died a good man, Sith don't have Force ghosts." :alienblush:

I recognised Ewan's voice straight off, without having been spoilered. (and daniel Craig's, for that matter!)

Could have worked as a "meta" thing, without it being an actual spirit of Anakin. More like a haunting or something. Think Norman Osborne in Spider-Man 2.
