You know when they had that big fight, if it hadn't been broken up who would have been victorious?

I say Reed, Hayes was basically in need of a standing eight count on shaky legs.

As much as I would've liked it to have been Reed, I think that Hayes would've prevailed in the fight. They both did some nice work to each other, but I think Hayes had the superior build and superior fighting prowess. Reed, while definitely competent, hadn't (if I inferred correctly from what I remember after watching the series thoroughly recently) nearly the degree of hand-to-hand training as Hayes and I don't think would've had the extra push to take Hayes to the finish. This takes into account Reed's field experience as well, mentioned briefly during the fight ("a little Klingon move I picked up...") Just my opinion, of course (and not to be taken as an indicator I prefer the character of Hayes to Reed - I don't.)

Seemed to me that Reed was more a tactical/armory officer. We rarely saw him in hand-to-hand combat. I think Travis -- with his build -- would have been more logical as security chief (and God forbid, it would have given him something substantive to do).

As for Reed, what I didn't get was his incompetence during the target practice in "Harbinger." Nothing more than a plot device.

SSSHHHHH!!! If the Mayweather speaks, the universe will implode under the weight of his words! :cardie:

Incidentally, I think Hayes would've been the eventual victor as his only job is to beat the snot out of his enemies, whereas Reed was security chief, armory officer and general Starfleet do-gooder so wasn't an specialised combat officer. And he got shot on practically every away mission he went on in the first season :p

On the other hand, he had Section 31 training and had picked up Klingon moves, so I don't know... I think it'd come down to a stalemate...

I think reed wins, Hayes seemed to me to be good in theory, but terrible in reality. Other than that dreadful first assault, when they came absailing down from the rooftops, the MACO's were as bad a shot as anyone in star-trek. And when archer went bonkers in hatchery, the Maco's again got owned by Reed, t'pol and trip. Only one of whom was combat trained.

Maco's = Hype job

Close, but Malcolm wins. The MACOs seemed a nice, chest-thumping and gun-toting retro idea at first but ended up as little more than predictable ship's security in bird-shit-spatter camouflage. Extremely anticlimactic.

The fight should have ended in a big wet kiss.

Which would explain why he had no descendants in E squared.

It wasn't because he was a disagreeable uninvolved coldfish, it was because he loved the cock. Which is surprisin considering the endless stream of women he wanted to say goodbye to in Shuttlepod I when he thought he was dying, but there's a reason the Camera cut away during 300 at night time when the soldierboys should have been going to sleep.

At least Hayes got a dignified, decent death in "Zero Hour." Something even Trip wasn't granted.

Hayes. Because he's trained to be a fighting machine. Reed's training is broader.

But even more than training, Reed is a scrawny thing with no evidence of super-cool martial arts powers to make up for it.

Er well the damage he did to hayes (bruised kidney and bruised face) shows he was able to do some good damage, also Reed survived four seasons, hayes didn't even survive one

The blowier the TV, the longer it lasts.

Thus the birth of reality TV.

What about Desperate Housewives where Hayes is submitting to being trampled by a dominatrix in 8 inch heels?

He was shirtless for that scene.

Don't recall bumps.

Generally the man with most bumps will winout over a man with less bumps in some sort of contest of strength.

PRISON BREAK started out really great. But I've lost almost complete interest with it over time. Don't even watch anymore. Got bored.
