Spoilers Red Alert. Images from the Finale are leaking online. Get off twitter, reddit, and youtube ASAP.

You're picking DS9 as an example of Trek not having a meaningful message? No disrespect intended, but this choice betrays a surprisingly superficial understanding of Trek.

Besides the fact that allegorical social commentary was and is a key feature of Trek since TOS, and, if you pardon the conceit, "Gene's vision," DS9 alone explicitly explored Afrofuturism, religious extremism, ontological fluidity, race and civil rights in "utopia," gender fluidity, representation, when and if terrorism is permissible, etc...

This barely scratches the surface of the themes considered in individual episodes.

IMO, Picard S3 betrays Trek's vision, and while I can enjoy it the same way I enjoyed ST09, I'm not looking forward to more of it.
I'm pointing out that saying it doesn't have a "message" is stupid or that it needs a "message" to be good and I am using a stupid example to make that point. Picard S2 was pretty overt with its message and was pretty bland at best. Sometimes they have a message and its insultingly simple or just plain stupid like they did then. Sometimes the "message" or vision or whatever you want to call it is more subtle.

None of it matters if it isn't entertaining or interesting.

Understood, I guess we disagree about the importance of having something to say.

When Trek doesn't have much to say, I pretty much tune it out, but I understand different people like different things about Trek.

Glad you're enjoying S3!

The message of Picard season 3: sometimes you can go home again.

As someone who lost his mom, dad, and little sister in the past five years, I appreciate the sentiment.
Hmmm.... never thought of it that way before. I can kinda relate to this.

Someone released their review of Episode 10 early, big spoilers if this is true. I'm not making a joke.

The Titan is renamed Enterprise with Seven as captain, Jack is given a commission as ensign, Sidney is promoted, and Q is in the mid credits scene

I do think there is a hint of truth in this with the 'Names mean everything' line. That's also the title of one of the tracks on the soundtrack

In this case, i was right about
Seven as the captain of the Enterprise-G

  • Captain Seven of 9 (what a surprise /s) - still cool tough.
  • Sydney La Forge being not only alive and well, but ready for more Star Trek = Yay
I'm very happy with that

everyting else = feels likle a lame fan service fever dream...

  • only Q can save it with a snip of the finger or something...

favorite PICARD characters
Sydney La Forge and Christobal Rios (Holograms and all) are easily my favorite characters

Was USS Wish Fulfillment already taken?

This season has no message.
It's about the generational war of old vs young. In the show, the young people are literally the tools used by evil to destroy the world while it's up to the senior citizens to save the world from the youth. It's also a cautionary tale against technological advancement, in that it's innovative new technology that leads to the apocalypse and it's old reliable technology that will save the day.

Finally! Saving my VHS tapes and punch cards will save the day. You all laughed!
