As so many others have asked, why would any of the new shows need to be replacements for any CBSAA shows, least of all DSC?
This is not broadcast network TV. CBS' streaming service can create and stream as many Trek shows or any other kind), that they want to. There is no need to consider time slots, or counter programing, or any of those "old world" considerations.
I would like to ask someone at CBS why they changed the release day for new episodes from Sunday to Thursday. I'm sure that wasn't done by accident.
Sure, but each show costs a fair bit to produce, and iit ultimately comes down to return on investment.
A second, third, fourth, fifth show will not each generate the same subs as the first.
I assume the idea is to spread them out over the year to get people subbing year-long, but plenty will sub only for a month at a time and binge multiple shows.
I would expect that they would not attract the same money from Netflix as well - the first Trek show in more than a decade is a lot more attractive than the fourth simultaneous show.
