Recommend Transformers Comics?

The recent release of Transformers 2 and the original Generation One cartoon season one on dvd, has left me with an itch to read some Transformers comics.

Other than the old MARVEL series, is the new stuff in recent years any good? I picked up a couple of issues of the Dreamwave stuff a few years back, I thought the art was incredible but the story severely lacking and never continued on. Did their various series improve in quality? Are they available in TPB?

I understand IDW now has the licence and has several Transformers titles. Though I am confused, do they follow the movie continuity or one of various different tv shows or are the a complete reboot entirely?

Anyone storylines in particular worth reading?

The IDW comics are a complete reboot (Although the character designs are still G1), although written by Simon Furman, who did some work on other Tformers comics.

The main storyline starts in "Infiltration", which like the old Marvel comics, initially has Ratchet as the hero robot as oppossed to Optimus prime and Bumblebee. Most of IDW's comics follow this continuity, although several are also based on the movie continuity as well.

The War Within is a quality book, no doubt about it - the best thing Dreamwave ever did and I believe IDW have just reprinted it in a manga sized format, so it shouldn't be too hard to find.
I definitely recommend the IDW books up to Revelation. There are several trades. In order:

Infiltration
Stormbringer
Escalation
Devastation

Revelation
Maximum Dinobots

However there are also several collections of "Spotlights" which focus on individual characters and fill in gaps between the 'ations and are basically essential as well.

The IDW series has recently been soft-rebooted with All Hail Megatron which I think is a bit crap and highly disappointing after all the hype, but some people seem to love it and it would certainly make a good jumping on point. The first six issues are available as a tpb and issue 13 is about to come out as a floppy (so I guess it wasn't that "recent" after all... lol)
