Recommend me a video game...

Fallout 3 and Mass Effect would seem to be up your alley.

Mass Effect is truly awesome (a few fram rate issues in places but nothing too horrible overall)...Just completed it for the 2nd time and going again for a 3rd.

If you like the civ games, there's also Civilization: Colonization, which you should be able to find for less than 30$. Basically it's Civ that is more focused on the trade aspect. You land in the new world and start building Civ style gaining resources, which you can convert to goods, making treaties with the natives and other settlers. Only you're still connected to the king in england, who basically acts like an asshole to you (taxes, ring kissing ect.) till you decide to have a revolution. At that point the game turns in to a survival war game where you're fighting off constant invasions from the motherland.

Depending on what exactly you liked the most about KOTOR/Oblivion, mass effect/fallout would be good for you. I really liked both, but both had the problem of having side quests that were kind of repetitive. (Although fallouts side quests were significantly less repetitive than the constant random planet landing in mass effect.) Fallout could really just be a mod of Oblivion with a hybrid turn based combat system added in. Mass Effect could be Kotor with a less turn based hybrid combat system added in.

The zombie shooting game (left4dead) is pretty fun if you can find people to play with. But as it is now there are only 4 maps to play.

Let me add my vote for Mass Effect, and also if you liked Oblivion you might like Two Worlds, I know I truly enjoyed playing it.

All of them I played mainly on the XboX 360, although I do own them in their pc version as well. All things considered, like graphics and gameplay and the such, I'd say the best experience is on the XboX.

.

Crikey! Two Worlds is *awful* - it's like... The Asylum decided to do an Oblivion knock-off, or something...

Well, I will admit that it is not visually stunning as Oblivion and it has a few bugs here and there, but as far as gameplay is concerned I actually enjoyed it more than Oblivion itself, and the world you can explore is quite huge and grants many hours of entertainment.

I will also admit that the side quests are probably more interesting than the main quest.

The truth is that I like simple games, basically the ones where you go in and kill everything that moves. As the Latins would say, Diablo II docet.
If the story is good, that's a bonus, if it's not, I'll just enjoy the slashing. :D

I'd recommend Fallout 3 too, but keep in mind that you can't continue playing after the end of the main quest (unlike Morrowind) and the ending of the main quest is plain stupid, IMO. But, the sheer size of the game's world, great graphics and all the side quests make this game worth playing.

After some research, I'm probably going to go for Mass Effect. Why? Because I didn't think to check my system specks first before I asked around, and pretty much all of these games require more processing power than my computer currently has. :scream: Since Mass Effect has been out for a while, it's cheap enough that I can pick that up and at the same time an upgrade for my system memory that'll allow me to play it (and others, eventually). Fallout 3 will have to wait. Thanks again for the recommendations.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

I'd recommend Mass Effect, except that I've heard some pretty nasty things about the PC version.

For the Wii, Mario Galaxy is a fun game.
