Recommend an Episode

Then we have a tie with TOS's OBSESSION where Kirky risks the ship even more than usual...and TNG's very first episode ENCOUNTER AT FARPOINT where Picard surrenders his entire ship 10 minutes into his debut mission to an ex-soap opera actor in a funny hat....though John DiLancie is a very good one.

Next: what would be the best TOS episode which, if possible, brings out the best in Scotty, Uhura, Sulu and Chekov, in terms of acting quality and/or character performance?

They're all pretty interesting in "Mirror, Mirror." Which actually brings me to my request:

Other than "Mirror, Mirror," recommend a great episode in which we get to see our protagonists' "evil twins."

"Living Witness" and "In a Mirror Darkly" were both excellent. The DS9 MU series was kind of mixed, but if you liked MM and IAMD, you might consider it as well.

How about an episode where the primary character defies authority?

I'm sure there are better examples but I recently watched VOY Thirty Days and it was pretty solid, especially for a Tom episode!

How about an episode that makes good use of the holodeck?

Take a look at Star Trek Beyond, especially the motivations of its villain. (I thought for a minute about recommending Into Darkness, which, to be fair, does meet the criteria. But I hate that movie so much I literally couldn't make myself type the words! )

How about an episode with a good (that is, not evil or crazy) admiral -- no, Admirals Kirk and Janeway don't count!

In "Shadows and Symbols", Adm. Ross finds his integrity... though some pressuring is involved. And in "The Drumhead", a Starfleet admiral absolutely WRECKS the chief antagonist... with no dialogue required. Wow, not much else.

Next, an episode with an unlikely hero!

Wow, not much else.
There really isn't, though I'd add Admiral Paris to the list, and I think Admiral Nechayev as well. And Admiral Shelby wasn't crazy or evil.
She was just wrong.

To respond to your request:

PRO: "Time Amok," where Rok-Tahk, the youngest and least experienced of the crew, is the only one who has the time (it makes sense in context) to figure out and do the work necessary to save the Protostar.

Let's have an episode in which friendship between two (or more) females plays an important part.

"BASICS, PARTII"... Tom created the plan, with help from the Talaxians, The Doctor, and Suder, to retake Voyager from Culluh.

Show me an episode where a shuttle (not the Delta Flyer) piloted by Chakotay wasn't destroyed or dismantled.

"Cathexis." Both Chakotay and Tuvok were injured, but the shuttle survived. :)

Can someone recommend a good Wesley Crusher episode?
I absolutely love "CATHEXIS". Very underrated episode. One of the best examples of paranoia as a mood.

TNG Final Mission

Request: an episode with Janeway being bad ass.

There are several to choose from... "YEAR OF HELL, PART II ("Time's up!"), "THE THAW" (outwitting a manifestation of fear itself), "TUVIX" (whether you agreed with her decision or not, she did not waver... and the look on her face at the end is one of the finest acting moments Kate Mulgrew ever did on VOY), "SCORPION" (I never agreed with her decision to make a deal with the Borg, but that is one of the gutsiest moves any Starfleet captain has done)... there's so many to choose from.

I'll land on "COUNTERPOINT"... superbly acted and she kept you guessing on whether she fell for Kashyk's charms or not.

Show me a great horror episode.
:)

Geordi LaForge. Oh lord, Geordi LaForge. And for the episode, let's go with "Galaxy's Child." "Aqiel" would also work.

What was the best crossover episode?
There have been some really good ones, and my first instinct would be to say "TRIALS AND TRIBBLE-ATIONS"... but after some thought, I'm going with "ONCE MORE UNTO THE BREACH". Kor was an excellent Klingon, and his final episode had a great message about the ravages of old age and the need to be useful one last time. He died exactly as he lived and how he wanted... as a warrior. A fitting end to the Dahar Master, and a great performance by the great John Colicos. (One of his last performances before his death.)

Find me an episode where a lead or recurring character is at their most innovative.

Really. GC was Cringe Factor 9. Though early Bashir and Harry Kim can give Geordi a run for his money.

I'm going with "Thine Own Self", since it had Data having to solve a problem without his memories, and Deanna having to think outside the box. And the elephant in the turbolift (namely, that Data should have been a full commander years before) doesn't mean Deanna didn't earn the rank.

How about... an episode that has a truly iconic quote?

About a half-dozen iconic quotes immediately leapt to mind...but the first was "Let's make sure history never forgets the name Enterprise," from the TNG classic "Yesterday's Enterprise." Which is an episode I would recommend on the slightest pretext anyway!

Let's have an episode with a memorable space battle.
