Recommend an Episode

Possibly a bit of a wildcard choice but suppose that's what the game is for. I recommend SNW "Charades".

I request an episode with some good Geordi scenes.

"I, Borg" and "Hollow Pursuits" might not be Geordi-centered, but they're decent. And if you want non-TNG, he has a good guest cameo in "Timeless".

How about an episode that allows an actor to really stretch, i.e. play a persona very different from their established character?

I recommend VOY "Macrocosm." It's pretty dumb -- I once wrote an entire review that consisted of nothing but a list of story points that didn't make sense, starting with Neelix the diplomat (the guy so attuned to nuance he can't tell nobody likes his cooking is a diplomat? Sure, that checks)-- but it's a fun riff on Aliens, so what the hell.

Can anyone name a decent episode in which children play a significant role? For bonus points, in a series other than DS9.

It's tricky. I'm gonna assume I'm not allowed to list a holosuite ep, but there's also some leeway as to what constitutes a holodeck episode.

I'm going to argue that it counts and recommend Identity Crisis,
and request a top-notch episode for McCoy. (Doesn't have to be a "McCoy episode", just one where he's great in it.)

I say the holosuites do count in the spirit of the question, so I'll recommend "Our Man Bashir".
"Take Me Out to the Holosuite" is also a great choice.

"Samaritan Snare"

I recommend Fascination because in what other circumstance could I possibly do so? Plus, I don't think it's as bad as people say. ;)

I request another episode that gets waaay more hate (or indifference) than you think it deserves.

A lot of people dislike "Masks", but I think it's a decent effort.

How about... an episode with an unlikely hero?

Recency bias as I just watched this one but it was the first that popped into my head so I recommend VOY - Drone.

Sticking with Voyager (as I'm binging it relentlessly this week), I request your favourite episode for Seven of Nine.

"Infinite Regress." I remember this as an episode where Seven started to realize that the Borg weren't as swell as she'd thought. And of course Jeri Ryan's performance was brilliant.

I request an episode with a good Romance of the Week.

I recommend Chrysalis. A good lead, an interesting partner, and it all falls apart thanks to the lead's impulsive choices instead of some space anomaly garbage.

I request an ep with a good twist.

Hate to admit I don't know, but -- what series is that from?

Recommendation: TNG's "The Defector" -- twice over! And when the second twist arrived, we hadn't seen it coming, but we all remembered Picard setting it up!

Request: An episode featuring an animal. The animal can be of the real or fictional variety, as long as it's not a tribble.

I guess that depends on how you define "animal". Technically, even humans are animals lol and also "featuring". Does that mean just appears in an episode like Picard's holodeck horse riding, or factors in more substantially?

I'll go with TNG's Genesis, where some of the crew devolve into animals, but also, the key solution revolves around extrapolating from Spot's newborns.

Ok, so now how about a request for an episode wherein a new sci-fi technology or technique is invented that actually goes on to be meaningful/useful beyond the episode

I wouldn't actually have been too particular (though maybe not humans, lol), but you came up with a brilliant recommendation!

Should have happened all the damn time, but so very didn't! I can think of one, though. TNG's "Suspicions," which introduced multiphasic shielding. Crusher later used it to hide the Enterprise in the corona of a sun in "Descent, Part II."

How's about a good episode that introduced a main character's relative?

If you count one-off appearances, "The Offspring" gave us Lal. But if you want a character who came back, how about the "Homefront"/"Paradise Lost" combo?

Can you give us a good "space anomaly of the week" episode?

if you like musicals, there can only be one right answer to this question: SNW's "Subspace Rhapsody"!

If you don't, my next choice would be VOY's "Blink."

Can someone recommend an episode with a mystery?

"Clues" is an obvious choice, and "Time's Arrow" excels if you want a mystery with more meat to it.

"A Man Alone" isn't a bad mystery either.

How's about... an episode with a romance of the week that you would have liked to see go the distance?

I'd have to raid one of the lesser TOS films for that...and it's still regrettable that both of the principles reached, ahem, maximum bulk when they began their flirtation.

I recommend "Shore Leave." The connection between McCoy and Tonia Barrows was warm and appealing, and had real chemistry. I wouldn't have minded seeing it continue.

I request an episode where the villain was right, or at least had a valid point.
