Rebooted Miranda Class...

Perhaps something like this:

That way you can have the blending, but keep the sensors there as well.

At first glance I thought I was looking at some sort of artistic re-interpretation of the Enterprise E's deflector housing.

^Glad I wasn't the only one, then. :shifty:

Kinda looks like the part of the Reliant that leads into the stripes that meet up with the registry.

OK guys, here is what came out after all the thinking...

I think it turned out pretty good. It's different, anyway. :)

Hmm, now I want to see someone do a more organic reimagining of the Ent-E.

-------

I like them deflector dishes. They have a nice, high-tech look and clearly look deflector-y. Slick.

Basically, it's already been done... although personally I wouldn't mind John Eaves redesigning her, he does tend to take inspiration from many sources and makes them work beautifully.

Okay, this has been driving me batty. Do you know what aircraft this comes from? It looks way too small for an engine inlet (at least for a fighter), and it doesn't have a boundary layer divider. Maybe an APU inlet?

I'd thought it was the inlet for a P-80 Shooting Star, but it might be too small for that.

Ack! It *is* a P-80! I wasn't even thinking about older aircraft! :alienblush:

Thanks everybody for the comments, and the interesting discussion about the jet engine intakes. :)

Well, it's done! I'm tired of working on it, anyway. :)

OK, since this ship has a larger registry number than Enterprise, I figured it would be slightly newer. I gave it 2 impulse crystals on the bottom, mainly to have an interesting object down there.

What do you guys think? I'm off to knock out a quick idea in a wallpaper.....

Oh, forgot to add this... I added all the greeblies to make it FEEL like Reliant. The shapes of the details is VERY inspired by the original model. :)

Very good... next week, we're gonna have to do somethin' with these puppies.

So.. Larson and Loknar next? :)

Hmm, I was thinking about building the "quad" next. It's that one that we see in the new movie with two engines above, and 2 secondary hulls below. :)

What's happening next week?

Great Wallpaper :techman::drool:

wh is it called : The escape ?
Because my inspiration was from a screenshot from Star Trek 3, where the Excelsior is coming after the Enterprise. This time, Enterprise is chasing Reliant. :)

Maybe in this timeline, Kirk takes Khan to the Starbase, instead of dropping him off. He escapes, and steals the Reliant. :)

Nice image!

I'm still not a fan of the thicker end of the saucer - but I get that you were somewhat constrained by the old Miranda class. I don't care for that aspect in the old Miranda class either. ;)

I'm certainly interested in seeing what you could do with the Quad...

The Larson would be easy. Take the Reliant, strip the roll-bar and nacelle assembly, and add the 'nacelle' assembly from FASA's design. It's not perfect, but it'll work well here.

The Loknar is just 'cause I want to see that bugger done... it would be an interesting challenge.

Of course, I'm sure people will want to see more of the ships that appeared in the movie... and we'll need them anyway.

Anyway, Next week is when my schedule opens up and I don't have to ferry my daughters around all the time. That means I can get to work on some outstanding projects - including ours.
