If you add in enlisted personnel . . . (lowest to highest)
Crewman Recruit
Crewman 3rd Class
Crewman 2nd Class
Crewman 1st Class
3rd Class Petty Officer
2nd Class Petty Officer
1st Class Petty Officer
Chief Petty Officer
Senior Chief Petty Officer
Master Chief Petty Officer
Command Master Chief Petty Officer
Note: The Star Trek movies/series never mentioned enlisted personnel except crewman, chief and yeoman (typically a non-com). The above ratings are extrapolated from naval ranks.
This helps alot, thank you! Okay, so Admiral is the highest, where does the Admiral get his/her orders from?
My fic is still in the outline process, even the first chapter. I need to gather more information, about Star Trek. I know maybe I should have waited writing. But, I have this idea and it just wont get out of my head.
I'm not sure how it works in Trek (or real life for that matter), but I think the admirals get their orders from admirals who hold higher position like the joint chiefs of staff. They in turn get their orders from the president, who is commander in chief. People with more knowledge, help me out here!
There would likely exist something like the Joint Chiefs or an Admiralty - a group of admirals that would advise and carry out the policy decisions of the President and Federation Council. There would also be a chief of operations, personnel, academy commandant, etc. Under them would be sector commanders, starbase commanders, and of course, starship commanders. In times of war there would also be fleet and squadron commanders.
