Rank the Evens

As continuation of my previous thread.... Some people believe that the even numbered Trek films are generally superior to the odds. Again, I agree with this. How would you rank the even numbered movies?

For me (best to worst):

1. Star Trek: First Contact
2. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
3. Star Trek: Nemesis
4. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
5. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home

Unlike the odd numbered films, I truly enjoy all of these films other than Star Trek IV (which has it's moments, but I only view it every few years). That being said, there isn't a movie here that I do not like.

1) Star Trek VIII: First Contact. The line must be drawn here! THIS FAR, NO FURTHER! I will make them PAY for what that have done!

2) Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. I really can't add any more that what has already been said about this one.

3) Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. It's a whodunnit with international Cold War politics thrown in as the stakes. How different and awesome is that? Plus, the battle was suspenseful. Still is.

4) Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. It's good. I'm just not usually in the mood for it.

5) Star Trek: Nemesis. Worst. Trek movie. Ever. On top of that, they killed Data. #### them. #### their movie. This is why we got mindless but pretty JJ-Trek. This is why we never got a gritty DS9 movie or even a crossover. Why ENT never got its movie, and without any support from Paramount, why ENT didn't survive to hit its stride. This is why we'll probably never see a non-TOS movie again.

Though TUC and FC may switch places sometime, and so might TVH and NEM.

Pretty much the same for me. UC is solid but a little predictable and the allegory is way too obvious, but FC introuced the Borg Queen and ruined the Borg, which is far worse. I wouldn't put Nemesis ahead of TVH, but I also don't like the latter and find it very overrated.

There are a variety of reasons why we will never see a Deep Space Nine movie, a Voyager movie or an Enterprise movie. And none of them have a lot to do with Nemesis failing at the box office. It's just that these series were never that popular and profitable in the first place. Why should any studio invest in a movie that no-one will watch?

Precisely. The most one could have hoped for after Nemesis was another TNG movie, if that, and the most fans of DS9/VOY/ENT could hope for were continuity nods or cameos like the Doctor, the Defiant, and Janeway.

1. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
2. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
3. Star Trek: First Contact
4. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home

This sums up my feelings perfectly.

1. First Contact - A movie that's fantastic despite itself (the queen)
2. Undiscovered Country - The great sendoff movie
3. Voyage Home - The great romp
4. Nemesis - The terrible sendoff movie that was good on all points that had nothing to do with the main plot
5. Wrath of Khan - Meh. Just...meh.

1. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
2. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
3. Star Trek: First Contact
4. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
5. Star Trek: Nemesis (because I had to list it somewhere; Star Trek III: The Search for Spock is a much, much better film)

1. TWOK
2. TUC
3. TVH

I don't really like FC, but I guess it would be 4. Nemesis is trash, and I won't include it on the list.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Star Trek: First Contact
Star Trek: Nemesis

TWOK stands out while the next three are really close in quality to me.

The even-odd thing was no myth...until Nemesis. It sticks out like a sore thumb.

1. The Voyage Home - My personal favourite
2. The Undiscovered Country - A very nice film
3. First Contact - A little overrated, especially with the Borg Queen, but still fairly good.
4. The Wrath of Khan - It never worked for me
5. Nemesis- Although I liked a few scenes, this was the film that killed off the franchise until ST 09 rebooted it.

Actually, I have a better theory for the even-odd thing. Multiples of 5 are very bad, multiples of 3 are fairly good, and even numbers (without multiples of 5) are very good. Others are average. This just happens to fit with my personal preference:p.

Logically, I agree with you. Emotionally, it's pure evil. Star Trek Nemesis kills puppies for sport and eats kittens sauteed in the blood of unicorns for breakfast, while laughing at the obituaries in the paper.

1. First Contact
2. The Undiscovered Country
3. Wrath of Khan
4. The Voyage Home

20239029439457. Nemesis

Just to give some perspective on how closely I rate the first four on my list. :P

1. TWOK (5/5)
2. TUC (4/5)
3. FC (4/5)
4. TVH (3/5)
5. NEM (1/5)

Okay so I probably just contradicted what I just posted in the odd-numbered thread - that the theory of evens being better than odds is bollocks. So I'll revise what I said - the evens are, on average, better than the odds. But just because you're watching an odd-numbered Trek film doesn't mean it's going to suck.

1. First Contact
2. The Wrath of Khan
3. The Undiscovered Country
4. Nemesis
5. The Voyage Home

I just could never get into TVH. Nemesis was awful, but it had a few scenes I rather liked.
