The six-foot-seven 265 lb forward earned a reputation as arguably the most feared fighter in the league.

I can't help wondering what would take someone that young and fit.

Sometimes some of the things that make them great athletes are what kills them so young. Oversized hearts and the like. I was 28 a few years ago, that's wayyyy too early to go.

It may take 3 weeks to find out what he died from, but I read his brain was donated to science?

One of my co-workers' son got in a fight with Boogard in the minor leagues... he admits that Boogard won

Poor guy though; hopefully this isn't related to a concussion

Apparently he was in the league's substance abuse program at one time or another.
