Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

I'm not saying they can't be friendly, I'm just pointing out that the who people cross breed for fun have no idea about genetics.

This so EVIL!!! It's bad enough that measels is back, but unfortunately it's not enough for these pro disease idiots.

Now they're bringing back infant mortality because God forbid a newborn has vaccines.

I hate them all, I hate that RFK is one of them and I hate that they abuse their parental rights. Unpopular opinion, but these people should be charged with murder, neglect and abuse
I don't get people being anti vaccine.

Like anything you can point to someone who had a reaction or worse. Like the Covid jab, sadly people died because of it but how many were saved?

Wonder how many who are anti vaccination would take the contraceptive pill, or back their partners taking it? The number of people having negative reactions to this is far more than something like the covid jab.

That's downright dumb. If it was good enough to be standard practice since 1961 then why not now? Stupid dumb people

The most ridiculous thing is that vitamin K supplementation at birth isn't even a vaccine. It can even be substituted with several oral doses if the IM injection is such a big issue, although this approach is less effective.

I can understand why people in more individualistic cultures might show higher levels of vaccine resistance. There is no question that the impact of vaccination is far greater on a population level than on an individual level. Vaccination does carry some risk for the person being vaccinated, but virtually no risk for the population, since the number of people who develop complications is negligible on a societal scale. So, for an individualistically minded person, the benefit/risk ratio will always look worse than for someone with more collectivist values.

Vaccine resistance is largely a product of vaccination's success. If most of the population is vaccinated, even an unvaccinated person's chance of encountering a disease becomes increasingly low. When that happens, people begin to underestimate the risks that diseases bring with them and the benefits of vaccination. So the perceived benefit-to-risk ratio for an individual starts to look even worse. People stop vaccinating, the percentage of unvaccinated individuals goes up, and the disease starts showing up more often.

Another reason some people underestimate the individual benefits of vaccination arises if they perceive themselves to be in good health. For a relatively healthy individual, a disease usually carries fewer risks than for someone with a chronic illness. But it is precisely the healthy part of the population that plays a crucial role in developing herd immunity, because healthy people can be vaccinated more safely and develop immune responses more consistently.

The fact that measles is the first herald of failing herd immunity is no surprise. It is extremely contagious and airborne, so in order to achieve an effective population immunity, the percentage of vaccinated individuals must be very high. Also, the measles vaccine contains a live virus, which means the percentage of people who cannot receive it due to being immunodeficient is higher than for, say, the hepatitis B vaccine, which contains only a single viral protein.
