Yes, once or twice, when we were younger. Hubby and I had few favorite places that closed. It was a real bummer but we found other places. Unfortunately, we can't afford to eat out any longer.

The only cash-only businesses I know of are the illegal ones.
rightly or wrongly you do jump to the conclusion all the takings are not being declared
I know of a couple of cash only, or people that prefer to take cash, and know not every penny is declared.
I was thinking more along the lines of business transactions that involve stolen goods or illicit substances.

Id expect bakery donut to be lighter in texture.
Possibly longer shelf life. Our bakery bought bread rolls don't taste that much different vs supermarket bread rolls if eaten on day one, but by day 2/3 the difference in favour of the bakery ones is very noticeable.

Go ahead, retailers, keep sending me your ads for your Boxing Day/Week sales. It’s not like I’ve got any money left after Christmas.
Black Friday a horrible American import then became Black Friday Month. Then Cyber Monday, Cyber Month... then discounting before Christmas, then boxing day sales starting before Christmas.
They have resorted to discounting for so long it has lost any meaning. It's also a death spiral for retailers.
So glad to be home, but it was nice to see Mom and my niece.

Say what you will, but at least they put their major discount day before Christmas, so you could actually save some money on Christmas presents, rather than after, when we’re all broke!
The scope creep from day to week to month is a bit off-putting, agreed, but at least it gives shoppers more freedom to take advantage of the sales on their own schedule, rather than try to have to arrange things around a specific day.
I don’t know how it is in other countries, but in Canada the sale prices aren’t usually even that great, anyway.

It's only been since the 80s and the rise of the mall that stores started staying open on Sunday.

Discounting is a deathly cycle for retails that they can't escape. Hence what was just boxing day sales has now become black friday, then black friday week, then black friday month, then cyber monday, then cyber month.
If you keep on doing it then a) it loses any significance b) customers just delay buying until you discount.
So they're constantly discounting to try and just keep afloat, let alone be successful and invest in their business.
For the consumer the benefits are questionable too. A quick look at price histories shows that a lot of the discounts have been done before anyway - because of that constant death spiral. New and genuinely discounted things are few and far between.
I'm not exactly sure what a "mind palace" is, but I'm reminded of Rita Rudner's line: “Neurotics build castles in the air, psychotics live in them. My mother cleans them.”
