Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Good idea, since it's supposed to snow here tomorrow - just got back from my Schnucks run.
Will be going to Schnucks off of 55 and Loughborough (live a few blocks away from there). I usually go to this one or the one at Hampton Village. I avoid going to the one on Grand Blvd near Gravois.

I miss Shop N Save in STL.

I hate it when something comes up/happens between family or friends, it's probably not a big deal but everything you do to try and make it better just makes it worse. You wish you could just stop talking but for some reason you can't. People get upset and cry when all you wan't to do was make it better but you fail spectacularly.
Every family has its problems. That's what teaches tolerance.

Don't tone down your humor or be afraid to be a little different. People will eventually come to see and accept you. When I first started I think people thought I was a troll. Once your around awhile people start to see people's quirks and are usually okay with them.

One way or another, we have to just be ourselves.

I saw a strange thing yesterday while doing yard work.

Neighbor girls are playing on their back porch. One's about 8, one's about 5. After a bit, big one tells little one she's going inside to use bathroom, sit here and wait for her. Little one plops down on the edge of the step, big one goes inside. Little one stares off into back yard, not looking at me, or as far as I can tell, anything else but trees and her feet kicking at the dirt.

After a minute or so, little one starts singing...
but in some kind of Death Metal growly voice.

And this is what she sings:

YOU ARE POOP AND ONLY POOP
AND EVERYTHING YOU SAY IS POOP
AND EVERYTHING YOU DO IS POOP
AND EVERYTHING YOU ARE IS POOP

And just like that, she's done. Big one comes back out and they start running around the yard, bouncing on the trampoline and stuff.

Kids are WEIRD.
I've seen kids create stranger songs than that. For myself, at six years old, I drew my concept of a fart. My mother found it while on the phone and it took her fifteen minutes to stop laughing long enough to explain what was so funny to her friend on the phone.

Somebody in the world right now is living their last moments on earth. It's a kind of morbid thought I admit and I don't know what it says about humanity or anything like that but the idea that a person's entire existence is coming to a end while I might be watching a old tv rerun seems to be 2 things that don't mix well together. Seems like the world should pause for a moment when a human dies but it of course it doesn't do that.

I have seen many pass away. I adjust well for those who are elderly, but it takes me much longer for those who are young, especially children. They lose decades of life to share with others.

It's about priority. Pockets are maybe the most utilitarian aspect to apparel, besides covering you. Much of women's clothing is utilitarian, but more than not, their fashion begins with esthetics. How utilitarian it is, comes after (If ever) Wearing a healed shoe, for example, doesn't even really seem all that healthy for the human foot, let alone as utilitarian as a sneaker. Men's apparel is more prone to launch off its utility 1st. (We seem oblivious to esthetics on some shit lol)

That less heed is paid to utility is just a reflection of that, & the related factor of said group also having a fashion trend of carrying purses, that compensates for pocket absence. It's just my opinion, but there's nothing wrong with a group prioritizing looking good, whether for themselves or others, nor is there anything wrong with the fashion industry reflecting the trend.

As such, I never minded the Starfleet no pockets style. It's what they like. Heck, what do they really need to carry anyhow? If I were designing their fashion, I might go with that more, & instead of just their phaser belts, they could have wristwear, like tricorder wrist gear, & maybe another wristband for remote beamouts, or remote shuttle control... & more features in their adornments, similar to the combadge... like a rank insignia techno pin that doubles as a bodycam

They get off on their gadgets. They're stylish, man. They got verve, yo. They're Starfleet :bolian:
Actually, I always thought they had to have a magical wizard's satchel so small that it was easily hidden in the uniform trim, but they could access anything they put in it whenever they wanted.

Ever feel like 90% of the people on the Internet are either racist assholes, or can't wait to call other people racist assholes for pointing out hypocrisies in politically correct culture?

I know, those are just 90% of the people who talk, but it's hard to see beyond the monsters, and the 'You either agree with me on everything or you're a monster' brigade. Reasonable people who want to approach every paradigm with skepticism and have actual debates have to fight a war on two fronts.
Reasonable people agree with you, but those like you are hard to find because super-egos of the "racist assholes" don't allow them to shut up and listen to reasonable people.

I wish we had a new Star Trek series on a major broadcast TV network.

Every family has its problems. That's what teaches tolerance.

One way or another, we have to just be ourselves.

The height of civilization should be truthful and unbiased worldwide news. Unfortunately, we haven't had that since Walter Winchell

And a great many work very hard to become arseholes!

Hi @Stephen James Wolfer , and welcome to the board.

I know it can take a bit to get used to the way things work in a new place. So I just wanted to mention to you that we generally frown upon someone posting more than twice in a row in a thread. In a situation like this where you want to respond to many different posts at the same time, we have a multi-quote feature that we ask you to use instead. At the bottom right of any post you want to respond to, just click the “+Quote”. This will add all the posts to your multi-quote, and then when you have them all, click “insert quotes” at the bottom of the reply window to bring them into the editor.

Also, just to let you know, some of the posts you replied to are quite old, and not all of the people you responded to are still here.

If you haven’t already, I would recommend looking over our board rules to give you a sense of how we operate here.

Again, welcome to the board, and I hope you enjoy it here!

I've never heard of him in the UK, so perhaps he wasn't as ubiquitous as one might hope. In addition, truthful and unbiased news is probably impossible given the nature of logic (which flavour?), language (which one?) and humankind (one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter).

This was an awesome marketing stunt from the 80s. I kind of twigged before the video had ended revealing the conclusion but the way he narrated it you could have had a punt this was some kind of hallucination and not a clever stunt.
