Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Why the hell are people so surprised that biden pardoned his son? Everybody knew he was gonna do that.

That's just what happens when your father's the President - it's the ultimate get-out-of-jail-free card.

It's like how the Kennedy family made that whole Chappaquiddick thing magically go away. Teddy should have been charged with motor vehicle homicide, but he was a Kennedy, so he gets away with it. Same story here.
I think it's ludicrous that the US hold their election then it's not for another 2 months that power is handed over.

If they did like they do in the UK and have an immediate handover then this sort of thing would be less likely to happen as a sitting president is unlikely to do something like this while they, or their next candidate, is running for president.

Doesn't make sense to me, for people in the US does it not feel like you are in limbo waiting for the next president to assume control, even if you didn't vote for that person?

I feel stupid. I changed into my gym clothes, then went to a few stores before finally hitting the gym. When I get home, I realize I never actually put on sweat pants and have been out and about in my pajama pants the whole time.
Well it could have been worse if both the sweat pants and pajama pants were left at home

Not really, no.

But, then, I don't think the president really impacts my day to day life and focus far more on state and local and Congress.

At work we fill out our time sheets before the week is over so we're filling in hours we haven't worked yet. Filled out my time sheet like any other time sheet, turned it in, and only afterward did I see I was given a day off for a day I normally work. So I tried to explain that I got paid for a day I didn't work and to take it out of my next paycheck, but apparently I made no sense to them, they didn't see anything wrong and nothing happened. So do I just leave it alone now?

Yes. You tried to bring it to their attention. It's on them if they ignored it.

You know, if that kid who whacked United Healthcare's CEO, had done Ticketmaster's instead?

That kid would have high schools named after him in a fucking week.

UPS had two deliveries for me yesterday but only dropped one off. What's funny is how the "Delivery will be delayed by one business day" is backdated. The map tracker kept saying my order was going to be delivered as it got later and later into the night and the truck was driving farther away. Then it's updated to say "Delivery will be delayed by one business day" but timestamped a few hours earlier.

So, what, we need a new game show now called Is It Cocaine?

I think we might.
So I finally found out what is causing my bladder/kidney issues, I have a stone in ureter near where it attaches to my kidney. So I went in today so they could explain everything to me, and now I'm waiting to schedule to procedure to get it removed. It also turns out CT scan that showed the stone also showed something in my bladder, but they don't know what it is so they'll have to take a look when they're taking the stone out. So that's got me a little nervous.

Originally the president-elect wasn't inaugurated until March 4. The four-month delay worked as a grace period for the newly elected leaders to settle their current affairs and to prepare for a long-term move to their new jobs -- no small task in the 18th and 19th centuries. The 20th Amendment to the Constitution, ratified in 1933, advanced Inauguration Day to January 20.

One thing I did have to laugh about with my medical situation was that the doctors I've been seeing have been pretty much blowing me off. The urologist was barely in the room with us for 5 minutes when I first went to see him, and originally had me scheduled for the tests in mid January, but then apparently they looked at the CT scan they did a couple weeks ago, and then suddenly called yesterday morning and got me in to start working on setting things up yesterday afternoon. So they went from pretty much unconcerned to practically panicking over the whole thing.

Unfortunately, very rarely do doctors have the time to sit and chat. I have a decent relationship with my PCP (I like to think) and even he gives me only ten minutes before he is moving on quickly. It's a sad state of how they get scheduled right now in order to actually be paid.

I think that's a universal problem. Sounds just like how things are here with consults being no more then 10 minutes and 15 seems to be the most for a doctor's consult these days.

It would not surprise me in the slightest. I agree with many that the health insurance world, at least for what I have interacted with it and observed, is quite broken. I hate that I have to be a participant in it on multiple fronts.

Heaven forbid you come in with a serious complaint at our doctors you then have to book a double appointment... Health system in our country and many others seems to be totally fucked

Oh yeah, I've had a lot of issue with our medical system here in the US, especially the insurance side of it, for a very long time now.
Honestly, I don't think I've gotten close to 10 minutes with the doctor or nurse practionioner my last few visits. I understand it's not their fault so busy and overwhelmed, but at times it feels like I barely have time to even tell them what's going before they're giving me their thoughts about it and leaving.
Oh, and I forgot about the most dangerous part of the stone, I only have one kidney and its partially blocking it, so that could be potentially very, very bad for me.
