Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

I realize the most positive and the most negative reviews posted online can never be trusted but... Ever look at the reviews of a store or restaurant you like and see a barrage of negative reviews that you don't understand? Was trying to find something about a restaurant and started reading all the reviews. Lots of negative ones all posted in a row about both the food and the service. I don't think it's a top-of-the-line restaurant, but I also don't think it's a one-star restaurant either.

I've been listening to a lot of country music lately, and I kind of wonder now how many of the singers are real cowboys/girls and how many it's just a fake persona they put on, and they're actually New Yorkers who've never been near a farm or a cow or horse or something along those lines.
To be fair, I fair I wonder the same thing about rappers, and punk rockers, and other musicians where the look and attitude are a big part of their whole thing.

I'm sure a great many.

When I was about 20 a rich guy from my area started a new brewery and spent a fortune marketing. I'm talking print, TV, & major sports stadium deals...

In all the marketing materials he presented our area as the wild west, hats, boots, and all. It was a big joke to us. We were rural - the most populated part of Canada without a city, everyone living on farms, villages, or small towns (the county seat had a population of 5000) - but we weren't Texan cowboys like the marketing said.

Yes, I have. I often look at those to get a sense of the extremes and what people find distasteful in a product or location.

But, one thing that is important to remember in business is that it takes 10 positive experiences to make up for a negative experience. Humans seem to have a tendency to focus on the negative, so the negative experiences are more likely to be remembered, and are more likely to generate a reaction, i.e. I'm more like to post a negative review because it stuck out in my mind than a positive because I was satisfied and went on with my day.

Chris LeDoux was. He was a champion rodeo rider.

Fucking glitter. I completely de-Christmasified the house today--ornaments away in their boxes, lights put away, tree down and put in the garage, stockings and figures put away and vacuumed the living room, kitchen and entry way. And YET, there's still glitter all over the floor.

I vacuum the living room area rug and the floors again. As I start putting up the vacuum cord, I see more glitter in the rug. I vacuum it again. I walk around it and look from a different angle: still more glitter. I vacuum the rug and floors AGAIN---still more glitter.

I'm surprised it hasn't shown up on Doctor Who as the Monster of the Week. "The Glitter. You can't run from it. You can't Hoover it. It's always there, being festive even when it's not warranted. "

I once got a valentine's day card years ago filled with little shiny red hearts and after opening the envelope and them flying all around the room they were still in the carpet months after cleaning.

That glitter idea is great send it to the BBC it would be a real nod back to the low budget Dr Who of the 70s

Couple weeks ago I ripped out carpet and there were still some stickers on the floor I haven't been able to get rid of. I was using adhesive remover and scrapers and mops but I just seemed to spread around the glue. My 6 year old bff stopped by after having her picture taken with Santa. She was all dressed up, and that included a lot of glitter.

My floors still glitter.

I’m the opposite…I sound like a redneck but hate country music…big Patrick O’Hearn fan…deep inside, I’m a neurotic Woody Allen type who would love to live in NYC and never see a blade of grass again…because that means I don’t have to cut it.

My parents had more common sense…except for my Dad who was a victim of scams.

One guy came by, said he had a little asphalt left over from a job, and…

My Dad thought it would be a few shovel fulls, give them fifty bucks.

Instead, they shoveled out the gravel, laid asphalt on the mud—and constructed a huge pile so my parents couldn’t get out and wanted six grand.

That still goes on:

If anyone shows up on your stoop with that line—punch them in the face.

Home repair scammers love to prey on elderly people.

The only ones I don't suspect their real personalities are glee club/show tune people. Those people are for real. I'm certain of it

Holy fucking shit. This business with Wander Franco (baseball player) just gets sicker and sicker every minute. :barf: Link
Welcome to sexualized behavior with little consequences. Fuck, man. I work with teens and they make a lot of choices but to be put in the situation by a parent? Fuck that.

Glad there is legal action. Sue him for all of it.

No. I'll politely decline, mostly because I have learned how to fix a lot of things myself and my wife's grandmother lives on our property so we help with that and my mom is a better handy person than they are, so she tells them to politely go to hell.
