Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Thank you. I needed to read that today.

Some of my personal weirdness around age is that I truly don't know where the time went. Depression "robbed" me of presence and enjoyment in many ways. Another is straight vanity - I've never been good-looking, but it's just strange sometimes to see my face change.

The worst is the fear. Fear of failing health and faculties - my aunt and grandmother both had dementia. But I'm doing what I can to make my mental and physical health better. My biggest fear though is of ending up alone. My mother-in-law has outlived so many friends and family members, it's scary to think about.

Thank you I needed too. Cheered me up.

Hang in there. Met all of my friends in hiking groups. A lot are 60+.

That's completely understandable but if I may be sold bold to suggest an idea that the one place were I see people who are aging but still feeling that connection is finding people to invest in. One of the biggest positives I see in the youth group my children attend is people 70+ who are there, providing support, mentorship, companionship and teaching these young people different skills. It's amazing the reaction when my teen can sit down with someone several decades older and starts to value their experience.

I am pretty tight as an "Auntie" to several of my friends' kids. They keep me going sometimes. Since we have no kids, they will be our heirs.

Walking out of the train station and why the fuck are people walking across the road staring into their phones? instead of looking where they are going? That is twice in 7 days I have almost been bowled over by stupid people.

There was never a chance in hell I'd have kids of my own, but I do love being an uncle. I love to do things for my nieces and nephews.

For instance I'm going to San Francisco next summer, I will be taking two of my nephews to a Giants game which I always do whenever I'm out there (my sister and her family live in San Rafael, just across the bay). I'm not a Giants fan but their ballpark is my favorite out of all of them I think.

And no, I won't be taking the boys to an A's game. That would be just...wrong.

Yes for home phone and internet. It's not just Optus that is affected, also any of the companies that use their network, like Amaysim - who use their network. I made the decision to get away from Optus with my mobile.

Melbourne's train network is with Optus so many problems today.

Another random thing why do women give other women dirty looks or act nasty?
Was having coffee with a friend and she dressed up and woman at the next table just kept giving her glares and dirty looks

As a woman, I can tell you we're heavily socialized to see each other as "competition," be jealous of those we think look better than we do, compare ourselves to other women constantly, and not trust each other. It's awful. I love that my close women friends don't buy into most of this, but it's tough to get out of that comparison trap.

I was able to things that I needed to do. I feel sorry for those businesses that were affected.

I wish social media would ban those people who post links to crypto services. Reporting them does nothing. Instant block for any that I see.

It's sad and frustrating and I see it all the time with the teens I work with.

I hate it. I fucking hate the comparison game. Men don't get much better.

At least with guys it's kind of obvious, but she was so uncomfortable we ended up moving to another coffee shop

I haven't gotten mail for 2 days and I should have at least gotten a daily publication I subscribe to. Our mail service here is crappy but I saw on the neighborhood website that one guy went into the Post Office to see what was going on and he was told that they didn't have enough mail carriers to distribute all the mail. Doesn't excuse the Post Office from not announcing this to customers. They even have an app to tell us what to expect in the mail but that isn't even being used anymore. Going to be a crazy long line at the Post Office now. Grrrr!
