Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

I don't know whether to laugh, cry, or roll my eyes into the next state, at the notion that there are still people who believe this Taylor Swift / Travis Kelce thing is real and not a fake, staged publicity stunt.

Perhaps all three?

I mostly blame the NFL. They probably made the whole thing up just to boost sales of Chiefs tickets and Kelce jerseys.

I mean, it's not as if Taylor needs any more money at this stage.

Snagged the two season box set of War of Worlds (1988). Lots of the same cast as Highlander the TV series.

Lupin part 3 is super good. Almost finished.

And I saw a new Farscape Box Set on sale.

A couple of weeks ago, I had lunch with my 94-year-old dad and his wife (his third) at a local delicatessen. I arrived a few minutes early and didn't see them there, so I asked the hostess if she had seen an elderly gentleman with a cane. That's when I realized I was describing half the customers in the place. I might as well have asked her, "Did you happen to see an old Jew come in here?" :D

Certain restaurants tend to have an older crowd. There is a pierogi place by my work, and it's almost always filled with senior citizens.

As loopy as the second season was I actually like it better than the first! Weird, huh?

Although I would have liked an explanation as to why the world was so run-down in S2. I wonder, were the aliens somehow responsible?

Oh well. I wish iTunes had this show. :sigh:

Perhaps I am naïve (OK, forget the "perhaps", I admit that in some things, I am very much naïve), but TBH that sounds like some Fox News-level conspiracy theory nonsense.

Right. So please enlighten me as to what the biggest pop star on the planet Earth would gain from this, to motivate her to go along with some publicity stunt to benefit the NFL?

So what will you do if you get pulled over?

I mean, you can't exactly keep your registration in your wallet (that'd be even easier to steal than the car), and cops aren't likely to accept a photocopy.

You have to have the title to legally transfer ownership of the car.

In any case, just keep the registration locked in the glove compartment. Easy peasy.
Most registrations I've seen say you can have a copy and you don't need to leave it in a vehicle unattended. I've seen where some people will make a copy but with the address covered.

I laminated a copy of mine with the insurance proof so it is just one item.

Just went through a 4.2 earthquake here in Bothell. Whole apartment shook and the cats ran under the bed.
Huh.

Usually feel a little this way. Hope all is well.

Chiefs do not need the help.

That's...a fun conspiracy theory though. Roll on!

I have no idea whether the next cop that pulls me over is going to accept a photocopy. I'd prefer not to take that risk.

I noticed today that my left ring finger has swollen so much (due to arthritis) that I can no longer fit any of my rings over the knuckle. Phooey! That has just happened recently. The other fingers on that hand are shot too.

An item popped up in my Google feed regarding the use of the idiom "out of pocket." According to the article:

"For Millennials and Boomers, the term can mean they'll be away for part of the day and may be unreachable, like if they have a dentist appointment. For Gen Zers, the phrase means acting chaotically or out of hand -- so the idea of your manager being "out of pocket" for the afternoon has younger workers absolutely losing it."

My reaction was a huge "WTF??" For me, "out of pocket" refers to out-of-pocket expenses, i.e., things you pay for yourself. For example, I pay my dentist bills out-of-pocket because I don't have non-emergency dental coverage.

I have NEVER heard that phrase used in either of the two senses mentioned in the article. And frankly, neither of them seems to make much sense. "Out of pocket" meaning I'll be away for a short time? Out of whose pocket? What am I, a baby kangaroo?

What do you think "out of pocket" means?

I have only heard it used to describe something that requires a direct payment from the consumer. "The procedure costs $2000, but thanks to insurance, my total out-of-pocket expense was only $75."
