Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

I abso-fuckin-lutely hate it when a cricket sneaks into the house, those little bastards, it takes 'forever' to track them down and kill 'em, chirping and jumping around/hiding. :brickwall: It takes a long time for me to go back to sleep.

Don’t feel bad. I took my dog out the other night and a scorpion followed me in and then hid in my carpet. I still haven’t caught it. But I have put out more glue traps. Creepy.

O.K. that kinda makes me feel better, at least crickets don't sting me or my dog.

I'm not afraid of bees but I've never had to 'deal' w/ a scorpion, good luck bdub.

@bdub76, you wouldn't happen to remember if the scorpion had large or small pincers, would you?

If the former, that means it probably isn't poisonous. The smaller the pincer, the more venomous the scorpion is.

Having some new, live edge, epoxy river furniture made. Same company made me stuff in the past. Local people, beautiful work. Pricing for everything is high, but fair value. I didn't have an issue with the charges.

Until they quoted me the legs.

Apparently they now only use handcrafted legs by a metal works guy. No more mass produced legs. $850 after tax. For two sets of legs.

Holy. Crap. I mean, fuck, sure it's again probably fair value when they're handcrafted but $850 for legs?!?? I can't do it. And I must not be the only one because they made sure in the quote to say you don't need to buy them, we can just make the table tops

So I'll be getting $40 legs and screwing them in myself.

Ever bought the store brand food and thought it was noticeably worse? Not just slightly different but night and day different. Got the grocery store brand pasta sauce since the sales price made it the cheapest and I did not like it at all. Even the cheaper brands like Ragu or Prego are significantly better.

I once bought drug store brand chocolate covered raisins, also because of cheaper sales price, and I had an upset stomach afterward. Could've been a coincidence, but I'm not testing that theory out.

No name sausage rolls. They were fantastic when I was a kid and then I guess switched suppliers and went to ass.

When I was in school whenever we'd do parties in class they'd always get the cheapest store brand ice creams and pop and I never liked. Lately though I've tried more store brands of some of the stuff I eat and most them haven't really tasted all that different from the big name brands. But we also always check and compare ingredients and just pick whichever has the most stuff we want and the least amount of stuff we don't. A lot of the stores have also introduced new higher end store brand, and a lot of those tend to be almost identical to the big name, so we when go with the store brands, we've been going with those.

Most store brands are made by the big name, many times it's just a different box.

Just another comment RE: Store Brand.

Canada is famous for its yellow "No Name" products that go viral on social media everytime an American celebrity or influencer finds them for the first time.

They are the store brand version food for Loblaws owned grocery stores. They also have President's Choice. No Name was always the discount brand, President's Choice the high end.

This spring/summer there was an uproar as No Name products jumped in price to be as much or, in many cases, more, than name brand products, likely on part because of its fame.

Also in part because the Weston's are greedy assholes.

"No Name"...that reminds me of those generic products that were all the rage when I was in junior high. Absolutely no brand names or fancy packaging of any kind, just these black-and-white sans-serif no-frills items. BEER, MACARONI AND CHEESE, PASTA, MILK, BREAD, etc.

Hell, it even extended to the printed word, with these thin paperback novellas labelled SCIENCE FICTION, ROMANCE, WESTERN, things like that.

Weird that this never occurred to me before but why did so many of the male characters on Lost never grow facial hair?
They could have shaved, they had quite a bit of stuff from the planes in some seasons, and other seasons would have had access to fully stocked bathrooms.
