Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

We started using kitty treats to lure the neighbor's cat out from under my son's car so he could drive to work. Things evolved until now we have to pay "the kitty tax" every time we leave the house. He watches the doors, changing from the front to the back doors when 1 isn't productive. He peeks inside the patio doors and meows loudly to get our attention when he sees us and demands his "tax payment". A monster of our own creation.

"Breaking up" with Wordle today. I sort of came to the realization that it had basically become just another obligation, rather than something fun. I believe when I first thought about that, my current streak was around 166, so I decided that I would continue to play until I hit a streak of 200, my starting word was the answer, or I lost, whichever came first. So yesterday, September 10, I hit a streak of 200.

Technically I could go back today, as long as I changed my mind before midnight. But I'm happy with my decision, so this is going to be it.

Back on the subject of grocery stores and theft, Loblaws is now "investigating" why it's selling half of the labelled amounts of chips in its store brand.

I suspect it's not just limited to chips. This came about because someone bought chips and recorded themselves weighing the unopened bag, and the results were about 100-115 g (bag included) when the label specifies 200g of chips per bag.

I really dislike the accent they use to represent Nordic types in Viking tv shows/movies.

That weird little whisper and head tilting, it reminds me of the over the top acting during the first encounter with the Ferengis, whereas the Ferengis are cool and not based in reality the Vikings just look like 'tards in comparison.

The way they talk makes me feel like beating them to death or casting them into dog/snake pits.

I started a new medication Mon evening to try and combat my terrible, constant cough while I'm on the waitlist to see a specialist. It's non-narcotic but it's actually an anti-convulsive/nerve pain medication so it slows down your neurons and fuuuuuuuucccckkkkkk do I feel groggy and clumsy. I was warned fatigue would be a factor but it's almost like the physical effects of being high, without being high. I caught two big screw ups in my work yesterday and had another person review carefully in case there were more.

Apparently the body adjusts to it in a few weeks but I dunno might not be fast enough. Along with being in a high paced, deadline oriented job that requires high attention to detail I also have an international trip coming up in 3.5 weeks and then am moving in 5 (and still dealing with finalizing that). I'm actually supposed to increase the does every three days for the first couple weeks and I have no idea what that will be like when the low dose is like this.

Glad I don’t have to live on this stuff.

Hope the cough goes away soon.

I always find it strange when Americans have that small town mentality of "Wow, I've GOTTA get out of here and move to... Los Angeles or New York!"

I also find it strange when people fawn over someone who happens to come from a capital city, like Tokyo.

We don't really have that here. If you come from London for example people generally look down on you as some sort of loathsome insect, like some sort of cockroach scurrying out from underneath the cabinet, which by-and-large is pretty apt.

I liked my visit to Edinburgh. I liked my visit to London far less. Class is ridiculously apparent there.

Everybody needs to watch Wild Beauty: Mustang Spirit of The West.

I love 'punching paper' at the target range w/ all sorts of shit, but I don't see 'the' point here.
p.s. do they make wad-cutters for that one, save your brass.
I finally got fed up with the frequent jamming and poor accuracy of the gun I had. That's about it. I've traded it in toward a TT-33, which will hopefully function more consistently.
