Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

And people are still allowed to listen to albums by Bill Cosby, Michael Jackson, etc.
One of those is true. I mean, no, the cops will not come to my house and stop me. But you can still hear Jackson on the radio. Often.

Fat Albert will still be one of my favourite cartoons despite Cosby
Hell COSBY despite Cosby. Some day I'll be in a rest home reciting all of the Cosby routines that I haven't been able to quote for however many decades it will turn out to be.

A tragedy on too many levels to count. Starting, of course, with Cosby's victims. (Thank you, Norm MacDonald.)

If you can only get one arcade cabinet, people tend to lean toward the At Games brand Legends Ultimate Arcade for the quantity of games.

How do you play Tron without a trigger?

It seems unusually early to me too. I actually went to schools in that district for the first few years we lived in Arizona, and swore back then they didn't start until later into August. Same goes for schools in the district I went to after that. They also tend to take a lot more days off now during the year, so the early start could be to make up for that.

Definitely had one of my more interesting bike rides this morning, first I got stuck in absolutely insane traffic because I made the mistake of going past one of the high schools and it was the first day of school about 15 minues before it started. Then when I was leaving the park I almost got run over by an SUV while leaving the park parking lot. As I was starting to go past the SUV suddenly backed out his parking spot really fast, and I panicked and hit the brakes so hard I fell over. Then he kept coming straight at my head as I was fighting to get out from under my bike and back on my feet, the only reason he actually stopped before he ran me over is because another car pulled up behind me and hit their horn. He actually did try to apologize, but at that point I was really, really pissed and I will admit I was kinda rude to him. I feel kind of bad now that I wasn't nicer to him.

You know, I realized I was so surprised about the start of school thing, that I apparently didn't read the rest of the post, and didn't notice what it said until seeing some of the quoted replies. Obviously, the major takeaway here was not the start of the school year! That sounds like a terrifying experience! I'm glad you're OK, any my apologies if I came across as insensitive by only responding to the school part.

I don't know if it's strictly Emily Post, but I think that "nearly getting run over by someone not paying attention" entirely justifies a "kinda rude" response.

I mean, yes in late August here. I've started around the 26th way back in the day but August 1st? :wtf:

TBH any time in August seems early to me. Around here we don't start until the day after Labour Day.

Don't worry about it, I didn't find it insensitive.
This was the second scariest bike riding moment I've had so far. The first was back a few months ago and I was crossing one of the bigger intersections and almost got hit by a massive either delivery or dump truck. The damn thing came so close I could have almost grabbed the front grate, and for a second I thought I was going to have to. That's the first time I can ever remember really fearing for my life.

Fun fact about Marathon Man:

There was an urban legend that, in preparation to shoot a scene where his character stays up all night, Dustin Hoffman (a determined method actor) actually stayed up all night for real, to which Sir Laurence supposedly replied "Oh, Dusty, why don't you try ACTING? It's much easier."

The real reason Dustin stayed up all night was because he was going through a divorce and was very depressed so he stayed out partying all night. Sir Laurence suggested acting as a way to beat the stress of it.
