Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Yeah, it seems like 9 time out of 10 if you come across a stupid or inconvenient rule, it's because of the fucking lawyers. The other one time is because there are a lot of morons out there who do stupid shit.

Like here in my hometown... we had open street activities with fires in the street to keep people warm but due to dickheads jumping over them and the risk of someone falling on one they put small picket fences around the firepits a day or two after.

Why is my news feed filled stories about how some weird chemical in diet soda won’t give me cancer? It’s oddly disconcerting.

Because a few weeks ago WHO said that same chemical might give you cancer, but then had a 180 change of heart which adds to this feeling.

I have a lot of traveling to do before I kick off this globe-
hike Białowieża Forest
hike the Cotswolds
visit the Azores and mainland Portugal
return trip to Italy and French Riviera
Iceland-watch the Northern Lights while sitting in a natural hot spring
New Zealand

....not enough time or money!!!

In every Criminal Minds episode, there's the briefing scene where the BAU team tells local law enforcement the profile of the killer, but has local law enforcement ever actually been the one to catch or kill the killer? It's always been the team.

No reason to watch more than a handful of eps. They’re pretty much all the same. And I prefer Mandy.

On Thursday morning the staff at the Columbus Zoo arrived to find one of their "male" gorillas had given birth. According to the CNN article she had been there since 2019, and they took a "hands off" approach to her care. But this still really makes question the competency of their staff and the quality of care they give their animals. Even with a "hands off" approach, you'd think at some point in four years someone would have gotten close enough to "him" to realize that "he" was in fact a she. And even if they don't get huge when they're pregnant, you'd still think there would be some kind of signs that something was going on with her.

Oh dear how could you fuck that up? Don't they even have a visual look at the animals they house?

Yeah, even if you're hands off in your care, you'd at least think you'd look the animals. And I get that they'd the male's junk isn't obvious as it is on something like horse or a dog, but you'd still think somewhere at some point in 4 years, someone would have gotten a good enough look to notice that "he" didn't have any.

Last night someone's car alarm went off. Now it was coming from the opposite direction of my car, but it sounded just like my car. I pressed the alarm button on my key fob and the alarm stopped at that exact moment. So now I'm thinking, oh crap, is someone breaking into my car? So I peek out the window to look at my car, and that's when the alarm from the different car goes off again.

Thanks for the tip. The main obstacle is time... nowhere near enough of it to spare (for the next 8-10 years).
