Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

There's understandably a lot of hate against russians these days,
but i just thought about this one man, this single individual who literally saved the world back in 1983.
Stanislav Petrov!

Really conflicted about what to do with my career. Im having a lot of success at the non-profit, managing a big team and getting a ton of experience, but it’s all with no pay. It’s great for my resume but it’s not sustainable. I wish it was because I really love the work I’m doing and having a rewarding job. I’ve been having a hard time finding a regular job, but if it comes along I can’t do both. Just at a crossroads.
That's always a difficult issue. In my case, I went to work for state government - the pay is terrible, but the benefits are good, and I am still serving the public good in some way.

Haha ha ha ha Star Wars does Burlesque
Our local Con had a geek burlesque this year. A friend who went said it was fun.

Government jobs are awesome. Great benefits and pension. My mom worked for the quartermaster in Philly for 19 years. She really loved it. It was an awesome opportunity for women who didn't have a college degree back in the 70s. I wish the government were hiring graphic designers

Anyone have a clue what rights I might have with an issue following gas pipe relaying in the UK?

The issue I have is at the property I rent out. Cadent have been doing a lot of gas pipe relaying in the area, still are.

I was aware, only from driving past the house, that there was work being done on my land. I did ring them up (Cadent) who advised that it was just new pipes and any issues (like holes dug) would be rectified.

No issue with that it looks like it has been, however it looks like many of the properties have had to have new external gas meters fitted, as has my property, no issue with that particularly and speaking to them the reason is that they can't access many of the old meters with the new pipes (might be rubbish but i don't really have an issue with the meters now being outside). Ours has been installed on the wall between the front door and the neighbours facing outwards.

Our property is a semi-detached and a few years ago the people who owned the attached property then had a porch built on the front of the property, up to my border (it is the border i am responsible for). As the porch sits on the front of their property there is a wall of course now that sits flush against my border extending out beyond our front door, so they have installed the neighbours meter on this wall so it faces our property, it looks visibly like it might overhang our border but only slightly if it does, but if its not its still right flush up against our border.

My issue with this is that its not very good aesthetically, the boxes are pretty ugly, and i have 2 now within a small space near my front door, while the adjoining neighbour has no issues as they cannot see their meter on their property. The other issue is that to gain access they would need to do this via my property, not a major issue but still seems strange when installing new meters that they would do it this way, and finally if i chose to have a wall, fence, or even an extension myself this would block the neighbours meter so likely to cause me issues should i want to do this in future.

I have a call out to Cadent, and i really want them to move it so it is accessible from the neighbours property but not sure i will get anywhere.

One reason I prefer jobs at small private companies is I'd rather have an environment where there's less bureaucracy, red tape and corporate culture and all that matters at the end of the day is whether the team delivered the product.

Right now there is a few guys working on installing a new trailer site in the lot next to mine, & one of those dudes is a literal spitting image of young Nathan Fillion. I mean if he had black gloves with big cuffs, he would be Dr. Horrible's Captain Hammer. Unfortunately, he seems legit like a guy who'd have no idea who that is

Why do some waterfront houses that are for sale have the address as unlisted? With the neighborhood and the waterfront being two known variables, the location can be found on Google Maps in 2 minutes.
