Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

I just checked and still go an error, this time I read it and it says the site doesn't allow hotlinking to those pages.

  1. it's not hotlinked - i'd like to know how to hotlink a page anyway
  2. i got in with no problems whatsoever earlier and i do now

I get this when I click on the colonial viper link:
The owner of this website (www.militaryfactory.com) does not allow hotlinking to that resource (/aircraft/imgs/lrg/focke-wulf-ta-283-fighter-interceptor-project.jpg).
And I just clicked on the Klingon Bird of Prey link, and now they're both working.
Weird.

Does anyone who grew up watching Winnie the Pooh and the Very Blustery Say still, as an adult, get disturbed that Owl can just walk into Piglet’s house, say “This is mine now” and nobody questions it?

I don't know, I haven't seen any of the Disney Pooh cartoons. I just can't bear to hear A.A. Milne's characters speaking with American accents.

I just totally get a kick out of the fact that Sir Mixalot's "Baby Got Back" was not just one megahit song... thanks to Nicki Minaj, it's managed to be two.

Yes, the song did objectify women. But at least it attacked the fashion of the time, which presented borderline anorexia as ideal. I almost lost someone I cared about to that disorder.
The lyrics seem more tongue-in-cheek than sexist to me. But then a friend and I were singing along with this once in the car with the windows down and got the BEST double-take from a car next to us at a stop light!

I decided to take my next step towards becoming vegan yesterday, and I'm giving up seafood, which leaves me with dairy as my only animal product. I'm not sure if I'm gonna be able to convince myself to give it up though, I love ice cream, and cheese, and yogurt and all of that. I know how absolutely horrible the dairy industry is, but I just can't give them up.
I have tried some of the plant based cheeses, and I wasn't too impressed. And my biggest issue with trying to go with non-dairy ice cream is that it's all crazy expensive, so I end up paying more for a container a third the size of the same thing in dairy ice cream.
Do what you can with where you are. It's all good. :)

Have you tried Good Pops? I'm not sure how "ice cream" they are, but they're tasty and reasonably priced. They will get me through our summer.

I'd watch the movie Babe while eating baby back ribs, bacon, and ham.
This is just curiosity, not an attack of any kind - you have rabbits, right? Would you also eat them?

Yeah, I can see where it could be harder to get emotional over fish since they're not cute and cuddly. I didn't really change my over them until the day I posted about giving up seafood, because I decided I don't want anyone to die for my food. And you have to be careful with cage free eggs, because even if they're cage free, a lot of them still live packed so tight into buildings that they can't really move, if you want ones that are actually outside wandering around you want free range. My mom and I are kicking ourselves, because the woman who ran the sanctuary we visited, actually sells her chickens' eggs, and we didn't think to get any from her.

Yeah, we actually have a 2/3 eaten container of sorbetto in our fridge right now. But it's more of a frozen fruit thing, I'm looking for something that is closer to dairy ice cream that can make root bear floats, and things like that.

I've been eating a lot of the plant based "meats" and a lot of them are surprisingly close to the real thing. There's a few that I could easily see a meat eater eating, and never knowing the difference.
Luckily, I never liked seafood. :ack:

May I ask which sanctuary you went to? I like Just Egg fine, but I'd love to get eggs from chickens treated well.

If I find a good dairy-free ice cream that doesn't cost a fortune, I'll DM you.

My hubby, who is definitely an omnivore, likes many of the plant-based meats. I've also successfully added some to spaghetti sauce with no complaints for the 'rents.

While the current plant-based meat substitutes are getting better, they are not necessarily better for you. I think the true replacement will be the lab grown meat where just the needed parts are "raised."
I truly hope so. I just haven't looked into it much.

I HATE how little has changed. :censored:

I believe that's called "margarine." It's fine to use margarine if you're trying to avoid animal products. But real dairy butter is probably healthier for you.

Thank you for the article. I always appreciate learning someone's marketing is messing with me.

The Dr. Strange movie creeped me out

Is that some kind of weird egg cooker?

Farm Angels Sanctuary, but just to warn you, it's basically just a bunch of animals in the owner's back yard. She takes pretty good care of them though, there is one skinny old horse, but other than him the rest looked pretty good. I posted some pictures from our visit over in the animals that aren't cats or dogs thread.

We had put one down right before July 4th when we host a family BBQ and I did joke about putting him on the menu.

I've tasted rabbit before owning one. It seemed a bit gamey for my tastes.

I've joined a couple of rabbit groups on Facebook and I'm now seeing invites to join the Meat Rabbit group.

It's May 30 and I think we've only had one summer-like day this year so far, and it was in March or April.

I haven’t been in here in a while but I had random thoughts so I figured I would return.

Really conflicted about what to do with my career. Im having a lot of success at the non-profit, managing a big team and getting a ton of experience, but it’s all with no pay. It’s great for my resume but it’s not sustainable. I wish it was because I really love the work I’m doing and having a rewarding job. I’ve been having a hard time finding a regular job, but if it comes along I can’t do both. Just at a crossroads.
