Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

I think the code my parents use for the community entrance gate and give to their friends who are arriving during closed gate hours is the same code as their smart door lock. This is what happens when non-tech savvy people are suddenly surrounded by tech.

People who murder speech, spoken or written.

"I'm going threw a problem right now" geez Louise things like this drive me up the wall, it's as if people did not ever get any kind of education.

Something I like to do is look at houses on the market. In my region, I've noticed that waterfront properties will initially be listed with an address, then sometime later the address will be changed to "undisclosed location." But you're on the water and your general location is known. It'll take two minutes to find it on Google Maps!

That reminds me of something I was wondering about the other day. Do pigs really sweat that much? Because when it comes to sweating the first animal that comes to mind for me, besides us, is horses. I've seen tons of pictures and videos of horses completely soaked in sweat, but I don't think I've ever seen a sweaty pig.

I also remembered today that I apparently have a doppelganger out there somewhere. Back when I was in high school, I repeatedly had people come up to me thinking they knew me from a different high school from the one I went to. This wasn't just one or two people either, it was a bunch of people over several years.

In fact pigs sweat very little, if at all. The expression "sweating like a pig" actually comes from iron smelting. Molten iron is poured into a sand mold and solidifies with the pieces resembling a sow and her piglets, hence "pig iron."

As the iron cools, the surrounding air reaches its dew point, and beads of moisture form on the surface of the "pigs". "Sweating like a pig" indicates that the "pig" (iron) has cooled enough to be safely handled.

ok maybe the obsession has left --- I easily got totally hooked on the "fringe" series --- I watched the first 7 episodes in like a day--- a total binge --- I have stopped --- the obsession has not lifted but I am dealing with not turning it on when there is down time -- knowing full well that if I did that - it would take over all my time which is not good at all :)

It's amazing how dreams can rattle you. Last night, I drempt that in last year's chaos of moving house, I had left behind a bin containing everything I used to wear at Renaissance and Pirate festivals, including custom-made clothes, hats, and boots as well as irreplaceable accoutrements. Fortunately the dream was wrong. All my pirate kit is safe and sound with me here in Florida, rather than languishing in some Salvation Army discount bin back in Minnesota.

Oh that's right. I think I've actually heard that somewhere else before, and forgot until I read your post.

I went on base to get my Coast Guard ID card renewed today. I had to get my fingerprints taken by a little computerized pad, but it didn't want to work. We tried several different fingers, alcohol wipes, etc, but only my right index finger took. After about half an hour of trying, the Coastie told me to return tomorrow morning when his superior would be there and he could authorize skipping the fingerprint machine. I left to start my opportunistic fingerprint-less life of crime.

Spiders eat somewhere between 400 million and 800 million tons of insects each year.
All humans on earth consume 400 million tons of meat & fish combined each year.

There's a lot of nasty bugs that we thankfully dont have to deal with thanks to the spiders.
Thank you mr and mrs.spider!! i love you.
