Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Anyway...

Just as we have a Kelvin scale for temperatures, I think we could have something similar for dates... So far we only have been able to date the Big Bang with a margin of error of fifty million years but it's not impossible that in a near future we could be able to pinpoint it more precisely, perhaps with great precision even. We could then have a calendar with only positive dates, just as there aren't negative Kelvin temperatures. Of course, it wouldn't be very practical as the current year would be something like 13,789,145,929!!

That would definitely take some getting used to.

would you want to define the moment of the big bang (thursday morning 7 minutes into the kojak rerun on tv5) as january 1st or would you come up with sth totally new?

Definitely not! I mean a week of ten days!!! Waiting that long for the weekend to come!! It would be torture!;)

I think it's the reason why they abandoned it...

afaik the reason was the ten hours day - one decimal hour were 100 decimal minutes (144 of 'our' minutes)

I love Christmas, like freaking CRAZY love it, but I just discovered our area's easy-listening station is already playing Christmas music 24/7. It's November 7th. Even *I* think that's too early. They used to not start until Thanksgiving day, but now they've started on November SEVENTH. *shakes head*

But, on the other hand, I'm currently grooving to THIS, and quite happy about it.

Laying a brick wall has a lot in common with making a cake with lots of cream on it. It takes more muscle but otherwise, you have the same kind of precision to put in your gestures otherwise the result will look like crap.

You have to be very steady when you put the cement between the bricks. If it's slightly uneven then the wall looks like uneven teeth and you have to cover it up. But if like me you like a wall with visible bricks then you have to do a very good job.
