guess who got himself a 4th grandkid today (1548 hrs) - they kept in line with their g tick string: gaston, georgette and now gabriel (bastards swear it's got nothing to do with me but one of my names is gabriel) - they definately didn't name him for gabriel lorca. his dad can't stand trek. his mom (an ardent trekkie; that's gabriel's paternal grandma*) named him jean-luc.
... my other grandkid is named adelheid (born the same day as gaston but 1000 kilometers to the north)

My problem is that I haven't got the attention span I had as a kid or teenager to be able to sit down and read a book. I blame the......um..........interwebz.
It's based mostly on statistical comparisons with other star systems and also the mass distribution in our solar system. It's not an absolute certainty though.
I remember that movie but the premise violates a fundamental rule of classical mechanics, namely that on an orbit identical to ours as well as stable another Earth would have to be on one Lagrange point vis a vis ours and that's definitely not on the other side of the Sun. It's a particular solution to the three-body problem which btw still hasn't been solved for all cases but for that particular case, it is.
I blame ungripping books. A good book I can read in one sitting but if I’m not gripped by the bottom of the first page I’ll ditch it and do some ironing or something. I’ve never understood how others can read an entire novel that they’re not enjoying, though I can honestly say I never read a book I didn’t like.
Hell, I'm talking about the same books I read 40 years ago. Stuff I got from the Sci-Fi Book Club. I probably couldn't even re-read the Hobbit now, and that was an "easy" read.
I just can't focus like that anymore. Must be all the voices in my head or something.
Lagrange point between Sun and what?
Earth isn't on a Lagrange point between two heavy bodies. Earth is orbiting sun.
Lagrange points are always 5 between two heavy bodies (e.g. sun-earh or sun-jupiter) the orbits of planets or moons are results of Keppler rotation. Nothing to do with 3 body problem.

Personally, I enjoy all the books that I read. When I was at school there were books that were mandatory and then you had to give a book report but the funny thing is that In most cases I had already read the book. I had borrowed them from my older brother years before (unbeknownst to him I must say) and read them by sheer curiosity, my brother usually waited till the last day to read the book and then rushed through it, botched his report and still managed to get an average grade. My father kept wondering how long he would keep this up, well, the answer to that is for a long time, he got a doctorate!!
