Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

No. No more Highlander. Anything beyond the first movie was too much. The original is a masterpiece, and it works so well because it doesn't explain anything. Any explanation could only fall short, while no explanation gives a sense of mysterious wonder. All that was ever needed was Ramirez saying "Why does the sun come up, or are the stars just pinholes in the curtain of night?"

Sorry, @Butters, but I wholeheartedly agree with this. ^^

make that three of us

So am I. I actually didn't mind the series, but I did have plenty of issues with it. Had it been a parallel universe, that would have been fine, but to link it to the first movie...nope. DIdn't work.

Semi-random thought related to Highlander:

How can they be called "Immortals" if the ultimate goal is for them to kill each other and the "Prize" for the last remaining "Immortal" is to grow old and eventually die?

Shouldn't they be called "Temporary-but-slightly-longer-lived-individuals"?

See. I agree, but I also don’t. Highlander was a classic, like Top Gun was a classic, but they don’t stand the test of time.

It could stand to be reimagined, with its watchers, and mythology, and what not. Resolve the convoluted movie/series continuity. So long as Connery played Ramirez...

David Tennant as Connor McCloud, Peter Capaldi as his dad. Netflix winner!

Keep the Queen soundtrack, or bring in Monsters and Men.

Watchers? Kane? Is this from the TV show? Because I didn't watch that. I only watched the original, and the first ten minutes of the second movie (which convinced me to ignore any Highlander beyond the first movie)

The series was good, nineties good. It expanded the mythology, but it retconned the gathering. Conner v Kurgen wasn’t the fight to the last.

There’s a lot of potential in the concept for a gripping new series.

The thing I want to know is, since this guy is so talented, why didn't he make himself some better tools, like a shovel?

What in the name of corn is happening here? He is either the worlds most sophisticated bear living without benefit of metal tools or a delightfully crazy person whom I’d like to emulate. Whatever in the everloving heck. Also wow. Much impressive. Very wow.

Although I’ve heard about it here and elsewhere online, and I know that the “There can be only one” meme is a reference to it... I’ve never actually ever seen Highlander anything.

Yeah, when I stumbled upon this I felt exactly the same way. There's a few others of these guys doing similar designs, a number of them on YouTube. The one I linked seems to be the best design IMHO.

One of them is WEIRD as all get out. The guy makes this excavation, builds a floor over it, then... when you think his next step is to build the next level, he creates a pool. Yes, a pool with a living space underneath it. These guys sure have guts and confidence in their handiwork... can you imagine sleeping down there and suddenly you are awakened in a drowning state because the "ceiling" broke through?

I wish there was more info available. I'd like to know how they determine a soil is perfect for this kind of building. Also, if they have any technique to harden it. Because... as you can see, they have no problem excavating all that soil... but surely more could be worn away by accident, or a really bad rain storm. The other oddity is... no drainage. So, when that water gets all murky and dirty... what the heck do you do with it? Would be interesting to see if they have some sort of siphon system to clear it out. Anyway, sure is creative. Would be fun if there was a Minecraft upgrade so you could build in this style. ;)
