Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

^In case of a war, the rest you get might easily be of the eternal sort..

There is an old adage that says that we get the politicians we deserve...
I can't imagine that the people in the US or Bavaria are *that* bad.
Personally, I'd prefer a plague of frogs or grasshoppers over certain politicians any day.

According to the highest authorities in the matter, we've passed the point of no return concerning global warming. In the decades to come, the weather conditions, the ecological disasters, the mass extinctions, will get to a point never reached before for many millions of years. Future generations we look upon this time in history as some sort of golden age...

Today. I am thinking, scarily, that this time, it might just actually not all go tits up.
that's perfectly normal. Gravity takes its toll.
Srsly: anything we can do to make you feel better?

ack! 2 storms is really too much. But on the positive side you'll be able to make all your preparations much faster now since you did it so shortly before. And some things are perhaps already done from last time (buying bottled water and a few tins, filling up the power generator etc). And maybe you could sit out the new storm with a few friends? Like the parties some people used to have in the subway stations during air raids?

I wish my brain functioned more "normally" i.e. like other peoples' around me. It's so rare that I can find someone who thinks and feels the way I do (about any variety of topics and subjects) that I've almost forgotten what it feels like to be connected to another person. The last person I felt this connection with (if you don't count my adoptive mother) was my second best friend who passed away in April. That left more of a void than I was prepared for (or even anticipated). At least my actual BFF is still among the living (though we do not see eye-to-eye on many, many social and other issues I still love her dearly).

Sorry, that's probably too much randomness for this thread... just had to get it off my chest. carry on! ;)

Goodbye, Shapeways. It was nice knowing you.

Thank you for introducing me to the 3d printing industry, but I can now purchase a full printer for what you charge for some of the items that I'd like to print. As well, you've gone completely opaque with your pricing structure and although it may be "exciting times" for you, raising prices is not exactly what customers find "exciting".

I totally understand that prices need to change (usually up) to survive in this world, but doing so without giving any indication to your designers as to how to bring their costs down and estimate what a model might cost without needing to upload it, first, was a big mistake.

I can now print larger models in my basement for far less money than you would charge me.

Have a nice life. See ya.

I get it. Most people do not understand my thought process nor my humor.

One of my dad's friends showed up early to his funeral (er, sorry, party) and left when he was told he was early (I really wish my mom had asked him to stay!!!) and when he was on his way out, he told my mom that my dad was his only friend.

My heart sunk when I'd heard that.

He did not come back for the party, itself. I'm not sure he had a ride, which I would gladly have given to him.

Last night I walked outside after dark and didn't turn my outside light on.

As soon as I opened the door I head a loud clanging and rattlings against my neighbors' chainlink fence that separates our garages. A couple of animals were startled and ran from my driveway, along my neighbors' fence, to the hill behind our garages. I'm assuming raccoons, though it could have been foxes.

We gave each other a bit of a start.

Nothing is too random for the Random Thoughts thread! :D

Whenever prices go up, my heart rate goes up too. That's a sign of excitement, isn't it? ;)
