Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Trying to sit through the Neil Armstrong biopic First Man, and I'm convinced that Ryan Gosling is a Dementor trying to devour all our souls

I should've known better. I can barely recall any biopic I was glad to be watching in almost 2 decades. This one is a deliberate dirge about one of the most inspiring achievements in human history

I had Facebook for awhile but it mostly just depressed me so I shut it down. Several years later a friend wanted me to start it back up so I did. She sent me one funny picture and never seemed to want to interact on it after that. We had a misunderstanding and she defriended me so I shut it down again. So depressing.
i got two - one (the official one) for my 'fans' to let them now when the next time my work is on the air, printed in which paper and stuff like that.

and a fake one on my under cover laptop for research

i hate facebook

Top 5 things I use Facebook for.

5: Talking about video games and endurance races with randos.
4: Trashing flat Earthers and anti Vaccers with secondary friend circles.
3: Sharing vacation and race photos.
2: Liking my brother’s baby pictures.
1: Commenting on Onion articles and receiving validation from the likes I get from randos.

When the people cleaning your house have to do an estimate first...THAT's a proud moment of a bachelor's life.

For coverage of the space program, I prefer stuff that doesn't get personal. Apollo 13, From the Earth to the Moon (which I'm binge-watching now - the new HD transfer is fucking BRILLIANT), Apollo 11, that type of thing.

Mostly, I use Facebook to keep in touch with family. Also... It's more like a glorified diary. It's fun to look back and see how much has changed or stayed the same. Like... Going through a certain music phase and then finally seeing those bands perform live a few years later. Little things like that.

I don't care about popularity. It's just nice to quietly get on with life, do my own thing, and have good memories to look back on even if nobody else cares.

Regarding the old fan forum friend, I DMed him my old username. Then, I was invited to a closed group with other past forum members. On that page, I discovered that he already knew my old username. The day before he'd posted my real name alongside it.

So now, everything seems okay. We're slowly interacting. I've created a safe boundary. It's better to ease into this situation.

I mostly use Facebook to showcase my art.

The other day, I unwittingly made a friend request to one of my sister in-laws' sisters while scrolling down in my Facebook app.

She accepted. I'm okay with that as she's cool and I think I like her better than rest of her family.

i was thinking about if there was any constants of nature that represent shapes and form,
like is there a perfect and recurring natural square somewhere, a circle or a pyramid ....
maybe in the microscopical world(?)
but i was thinking about what we can see with our own eyes.

Then i was thinking, well.. at least we have half of a circle with the appearance of rainbows,
they always look like that.
I mean, i have been wrong before about stuff so i thought it was best to google...
To my surprise, the rainbow is NOT a half circle

They are indeed perfect circles, we can't usually see this
because they are partly blocked by the ground and horizon from a ground-viewpoint.
I never knew.....

Here are some skydivers above one

Maybe this is something everyone knows... it was news to me:)
Where can i find natural perfect squares?

I was once convinced that I had seen a straight rainbow. I was very little and saw it through my grandma’s kitchen window, so I suppose I just saw a small enough portion for it to appear straight from my low vantage point. I remember running outside to try and see the rest of it from the garden, but it was gone by then, and I was reprimanded for running out. For many years I was adamant that I’d seen a straight rainbow. True story.

While we’re on about Facebook, I have recently embraced it. I don’t have many friends but I’ve joined lots of groups that like to post pictures of the area and it’s history, and also train stuff. My expectations of it are quite low. I enjoy the dash cam fail videos.

How does that work, the kind of deal where you take the risk and are responsible for self marketing and they collect a percentage?
No risk, not with the ebook, but they do take their cut. With the print on demand the risk is with the return/refund, as the book doesn’t exist until there’s a buyer. I’m still learning though.

ETA: The marketing is all on me, but I’m developing a platform for that.

Maybe it was a sundog.

I guess I never really thought logically about it before, so no, I didn’t know that.

That is both fascinating and beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

is it just a local phenomenon in my region or have you, too, noticed that double rainbows got more commen in the last decade? They used to be very rare when I was a kid and now every second one is double.

I thought all rainbows were double?

The outer rainbow might be very faint, but I'm pretty sure it's always there.
