Random Acts of Kindness

I recently found a British passport in a parking lot and tracked down the owner via facebook. Needless to say, she was very grateful. It had her work visa in it and she was also unable to access her bank acct without it.

We went on vacation in Texas a couple years ago. It was a bad choice. The condo we stayed at was terrible, it was hot as hell, and there was nothing for the boys (ages 7 years old and 18 months old) to do. We stopped at a buffet restaurant for lunch, right around the time the blue haired senior citizen regulars were out. If you could read the thought bubbles over their heads, they would all have said: Sh*t! Who are these ^(_$*@() ghetto kids who are going to make all kinds of &%&* noise and ruin our day??? I spent the whole time shushing the boys and making sure they didn't spill a crumb on the floor. When we were done and ready to slink out of there, this old lady walked up and told my husband and me that she thought our children were very well behaved, and that we were doing an excellent job with them. That one comment made me feel so good as a parent. Now I make it a point, when appropriate, to encourage young parents when their kids are behaving well.
