According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first and best Indiana Jones movie will have an IMAX release to coincide with the release of the Blu-Ray box set.

Cool. I would love to see Raiders on the big screen one more time! :)

I just hope Lucas didn't get the sudden urge to change the films for the blu ray release. "Let's replace that effect! Let's add a bit here, let's remove a bit there."

In the new version they open the ark and Hayden Christensen comes out.

( Which understandably has the same effect as in the original version. )

The only "Special Edition"-like changes to Raiders that I know of is digitally adding to the part when the Nazi staff car goes flying off the cliff, and in the Well of Souls, when Indy falls and a cobra ends up hissing in his face, the reflection from the glass that separated Harrison Ford from the very poisonous snake is removed.

I'd be more excited if it wasn't just an IMAX release. I'm not crazy about the local IMAX experience and would rather just hit one of my favorite theatres.

I saw it in 35mm a few years ago. It's still a great film to see on the big screen.

I can't see the benefit of blowing it up to IMAX, though -- except, of course, the financial benefit of surcharges.

The sword wielding guy in the market now has a gun that he tries to shoot Indy with.

I will watch the shit out of this.

(Also in classic Spielberg film news, JAWS should be playing Thursday at your local Cinemark theater.)

Hm meh... that means there is probably more.

So it's this weekend, just a little 'bump' as a reminder.

I'll be going at least once on Sunday with a friend but have just heard from someone else who wants to go Friday. I suppose I could suffer it twice in 72hrs in IMAX!

I might get hubby to take me this weekend. "Raiders" is my all-time favorite movie and I have a birthday coming up.
