Rachel Nichols: Which Part Will She Play?

It's not that I think resemblance to the original actors is that important, but look at this comparison:

Based on these photos, I would say that Rachel Nichols would make a fine Leila Kalomi -- that's not to say that I believe this is necessarily the role for which she is being considered. But if Leila Kalomi really is a character in this film, Rachel Nichols would be a good fit to portray her.

Maybe Leila Kalomi was written as a 'throw-away' character for that one episode, but Leila and T'Pring are the only two of Spock's past "relationships" that were ever mentioned in TOS.

If the story of this film happens to included a past "Love" interest for a pre-TOS Spock, then why not make that character Leila Kalomi instead of creating a new character? What's the harm? I doubt Spock had that many girl's pining for his love.
(and I doubt the fair-skinned, blonde-haired Nichols will be playing T'Pring.)
