I dug around and it has finally turned up on the BBC News site.

I just checked the BBC Doctor Who site, and there's still no mention of his passing. I hope they are going to give him the acknowledgement he deserves.
RIP Brig! It is an utter fucking shame that they never had him on the new show. I mean, outside of the usual "Doctor\Companion" thing, I don't think there's ever been a character at the same level of the Brigadier. I know they can't cameo every one who was once on the show, but c'mon....the Brig is the only character to have known so many different incarnations of the Doctor!!
I hope so. It might also be nice to see the new series acknowledge the Brig's passing in some small way.Good bye Brig. He was a great actor and worked well as a contrast to the doctor. I am sure they will the first episode of the new series to him.
