Question re: Prophets, Sisko in Emissary

OK, if Ben was called, chosen and born to be The Emissary to the Prophets for the Bajoran ppl, why the 3rd degree from the Prophets dressed up like Picard, Locutus of Borg and so on.......

They more than any, should have known who he was....
In fact Locutus of Borg Prophet wanted him killed on the spot, WTH?

They didnt know who he was when they first met. After they met and he explained linear time they then made sure the Sisko was born. Its not linear!

So the Prophets aren't omniscient

Nope, just very powerful beings. Remember Arthur C. Clarke's (3rd?) Law. Any technology sufficiently advanced can appear to be magic. Mix that with a species that has a different perception of 4 dimensional space to us, things can get messy and confusing when dealing with them.

Yeah I guess. Opaka knew that Sisko was the Emissary before Sisko had met the Prophets. The orbs had given various people glimpses into the future and they're tied into the Prophets. So yes they exist outside time but dont know everything? Otherwise they would have known that Winn would have stopped The Reckoning but then they give Sisko knowledge of the Cardassians joining the Dominion to protect Bajor. I dunno!

It could also be that even though they made sure he was born, he wasn't "The Sisko" yet. He still had a lot to learn before that happened. Maybe Locutus of Prophets was voicing the opinion that Sisko would never become "The Sisko" and they should just kill him and be done with it.

lol, yeah, it was a little silly.

anyway, thinking about it earlier today. With the prophets being non-linear, they see all points in time as one. There for, they would expect Sisko to be "The Sisko" regardless of where he was in linear time.

At least... it made sense in my head...

Yeah though remember they also change things as well. They created the Sisko as their corporeal agent. SO while they exist outside time it doesnt mean they see everything maybe? If they exist outside time do they see all timelines like the Mirror U or just the prime (616! ) reality.

Or, or...

It could just be that the DS9 writers didn't have the whole prophet storyline mapped out very well and were just making it up as they went along. Because really, there's not much of a way to reconcile season 1-3's " mysterious wormhole aliens" with later seasons' almost literal "prophets of the Bajorans."
