Question about the AA/DST communicator..

I'm looking at getting the DST communicator, but can't decide which edition is my best bet. I've heard the different editions have different features.

I'm looking for the verison with the real metal grille, not the flat plastic one. I just don't know what version has what.

Any help would be great.

Don't diss the flat plastic one, I have that. I read a while ago some complaints about the Metal Grille bending too easily, thus ruining it. Sure, The Real Metal Grille looks better, more show accurate, but if you looking for a wearable, more durable prop replica, the flat metal is your best bet. I'd consider the Metal Grille, but specifically as a display piece.

I'd also take a look at several different stores, Entertainment Earth has an Exclusive Gold Grilled Real Metal one that suits your fancy. It's a Diamond Select priduction, according to there site, but I think that they mean Art Asylum.

Anyways, The Art Asylum one is better, but only as a display piece, and the Diamond Select Toys one is better as a moving Prop, Costume piece.

The Entertainment Earth Exclusive is the Gold Grille One, and the Diamond Select Toys one is is the Flat Plastic. Hope that Helps!

Thanks for the reply.

I found that the blue box version (later realease) is the 'plastic lid' one. While the darker boxed (earlier release) is a brass (?) metal lid.

The Entertainment Earth one looks very cool, but is out of my price range. I'm getting mine on sale from ToyRocket, the darker boxed one.

It will make a cool display piece

That's cool. Really, they probably are all the same, but who knows. I may take the fall of $30 bucks and get the EE one, but I am saving up for the Wrath of Khan phaser still to come.
