Quark v Guinan

Better Bartender?

It's definitely Ten Forward for me, because Guinan would have centuries of stories to tell and it would most likely be a much cleaner establishment.

Ten Forward was a glorified airport lounge. At least Quarks was like a proper boozer! I know where I'd like to spend my Friday night after a (hard?) weeks work.

With Guinan, I know I can have a good truthful conversation. With Quark, that conversation would be good, but I would need to make sure everything was where they were supposed to be when I left.

Quark by a country mile. He actually ran a bar where costs and profits matter. Ten Forward if you didn't get enough people in the door that month you didn't have to worry about how you were going to pay your suppliers and staff.

Isn't that an argument against Quark in some situations, though? Say you don't want a night out, you just want to sit quietly and nurse a few drinks and watch the starscape, and you don't want any food or gambling or holoporn? Guinan's cool. She won't hustle you out. She might even let you talk to her about what brought you in.

Quark's always got an angle. He's superficially charming, but he's got to maximize revenue from your table. His waitstaff might ignore you and even give you attitude if you stick around longer than suits them. No thanks.

If I wanted to drink in a library atmosphere, go to Ten Forward. If I wanted to have fun, go to Quarks.
