PSN down thread

I downloaded and installed the patch, got the email from Sony to their website and change my password. That website is down.

Am glad someone got their e-mail...15 hours and nothing

I could change my password on the PS3 but i still had to do it around 21:30, so even then it took a couple of yours after installing the patch...

This place is like a mensa meeting compared to whats been happening on the official PS3 forums.

Kind of makes me proud in a way.:techman:

I am starting to feel a little more like the crazy people on the PS3 forums, coming up to 16 hours with no PSN reset E-mail and I tried to re-do it via my console but server error which is being reported widespread over the net. Also the PSN website keeps going up and down, Sony's P.R really couldn't get anyworse unless it turns out the new firmware bricks your ps3

I don't understand why everyone just couldn't change the password via the console.

Japanese government not allowing PSN to come back in Japan because it's not safe

Sony may be busy flipping the PlayStation Network switch back to the "on" position around the globe, but one locale where it won't be doing so just yet is its homeland of Japan. The Dow Jones newshounds report that the Japanese government refuses to allow Sony to reactivate its ailing network until satisfaction is reached on a couple of outstanding issues.

Its basically to stop anybody logging in with your log-in info the minute the PSN came back on any PS3......this way no nasty hacker who might have your login detail can log into your account and then lock you out.

For people like me who bought stuff from the PSN prior to the hack, that purchase info locked to a specific machine is enough proof to allow me to sign in and simply change the password on that machine.

And as we saw from the hack, i think its better Sony put up as much security as possible...it might mean having to wait for emails but you can bet if people were trying to log in and found they could not because somebody else already changed the log in detail there would be a outcry to match that of the PSN getting hacked in the first place.;)

Still no-email arrrrrrrrr  I want to go online. Even my little bro has not had an e-mail yet so this is kinda taking the piss a little. It seems also the people who do get e-mails the link is only allowed to be accessed for 3 hours after it reaches your inbox :rolleyes: REALLY? Sony do you realise some people are asleep or at work, we don't all live 24/7 at our PC unless were a member of BBS of course ;)

Of course that means Sony needs to resend out the e-mails again just adding to the traffic.

^ That's weird, I got e-mails for both of my accounts (US and UK) in less than a minute. Have you tried submitting a request again?

I tried via my PS3 but got server error over and over but I managed to earlier via PSN website inbetween one of its up n down moments.

I have also e-mailed customer support.

^ I think it's most likely you submitted your request when the servers were being flooded with request. I was in bed at the time and when I got up this morning, PSN was down. It came back after a few hours and it worked fine at the time.

Do you have a lot of trophies on your account? Because if you don't, you could always just get a new one.

I have enough to make me not want to create a new account, I will wait a longer because I consider that though my brother created a new account but is now waiting for a confirmation e-mail  can't win either way.

Sony a total farce.

Well hopefully you'll get that e-mail soon. Then you, Aragorn, and I can play some U2 co-op. ;) I haven't played it in a while though, so I'll probably be a bit rusty.

It's not going to be the same sort of issue that we had with the Killzone 3 beta emails, is it? There was a problem where people who hadn't ticked the "allow emails/messages from Sony" box in their account management couldn't recieve the emails with the beta keys, even though they'd been sent.

Yeah, I heard somewhere that the queue was being cleared due to the flood of requests. I think that's likely what happened to you, Jax. Did you check your junk folder just in case? You never know with these things.

I keep checking my inbox and junk filter so far nothing and now 24 hours have passed :scream:

Well, then flood died down enough that when I turned it on this morning I was able to reset my PW, get online and kill some zombies in Black Ops with my friends.

Now I just need to wait for the PS Store to go back up so I can get the new Fallout New Vegas DLC.

I did about 1 hour ago turned PS3 on and was able to send my request through not server error this time.

Along with the 30 days free PS+ here is the list of free games you get to chose two from.

Two PS3 games from the following list:

  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Infamous*
  • Wipeout HD/Fury
  • Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty
  • Dead Nation*
For those with PSP accounts, you will also be eligible to download two PSP games from the following list:

  • LittleBigPlanet PSP
  • ModNation PSP
  • Pursuit Force
  • Killzone Liberation*

Existing PS+ subscribers get 60 days free. Also, the Americans get Super Stardust HD instead of the Ratchet & Clank game.

Guess I'll go for inFamous and Dead Nation off that list.
