Property of Ambassador Spock [SPOILERS!!!]

I doubt Spock had the photo with him when he came through the black hole. He probably just downloaded it from the Starfleet archives and kept it on his person while on New Vulcan. Pretty simple.

Spock was pretty young for a Vulcan when he died. 154 or so? Maybe five years on this other universe effected his health? Or maybe because he is a hybrid he didn't have as many years as his father did.
Well it's not certain that 154 is his exact biological age. In the Search for Spock he's regenerated and aged to a point that certainly appears to be his age when he died but that's not really certain, especially for a Vulcan. Tuvok looked the same age for about 90 years.

Why wouldn't he have it with him? He seems to have liked it. And there's no real reason for him to leave it home.

Why would Starfleet archives have a photo of people who never existed in that universe? And whose approximate counterparts wouldn't look like that for another couple of decades?

I wanted to say that Spock died at a rather early age for a Vulcan but then I remembered he was half human.

What happened to his Katra?
Good question. We know nothing of how he died. He may not have been in a situation where he could give it to someone. Or, because of his background in the Prime universe and the existence of Spock in his new universe, he thought it best to not give his katra to anyone.

As far as the picture goes, that bothered me a bit too until I thought it through. Maybe he didn't carry the picture with him, but it was a file on a device he always had on his person, like today's sticks. Nero obviously outfitted him with enough gear to at least survive watching Vulcan be destroyed, and maybe he found Spock's device and deemed what was on it harmless enough, so he let him keep it. Or, he wiped some stuff out, but kept the file of the picture so Spock would have a reminder of lost loved ones and better times he left behind.

In the new universe, Spock Prime could've printed a copy the picture and got a frame for it anytime after things settled down.

Did they say how old Spock was when he died?

It should be 2230-2285, 2285-2387, 2258-2262. But I can see why they didn't do that.
