Prometheus 2: Apparently it's happening

For those who really are looking forward this, rejoice!!

http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/fox...dates-on-predator-gambit-x-films-and-more-166

Fox has been shuffeling around releasedates, and Covenant will be released two months earlier. Ok, sure, on the whole, two months isn't that much, but it's something. ;)
I was looking in my calendar, and it was supposed to be released last month! :alienblush:

Well, we'll see....hope it actually ties into the original movie, instead of fake-connecting like the previous movie.

Also noticed a Predator release (reboot????) I like the idea of the universes being connected, even if the previous movies were just OK

Yep. I recently saw that too. "The Predator". Same looking creature. Might be a reboot/remake, but looks more like a sequel. Shane Black is writing & directing, and he seems to have a pretty decent stable of films under his belt, so there's that. Some info in the IMDB "Trivia" section, FWIW:
  • This film is directed and co-written by Shane Black as a sequel to the film Predator (1987), Predator 2 (1990) and Predators (2010). Shane Black had played a starring role in the original film as the character Hawkins.
  • Was originally conceived as a reboot of the Predator franchise until Shane Black came aboard and confirmed he will be making a sequel to the franchise instead.
  • It's unclear if both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Glover are returning.
  • Shane Black was cast in the original film with the intention of him re-writing the script during production, which he didn't want to do and ended up not having to.
  • Ridley Scott has recently said that "Blade Runner" shares a universe with the "Alien" Franchise, which of course shares a universe with the "Prometheus" Franchise. Even Beyond that the "Alien" and "Predator" Franchises share a universe as well, as shown in the "Alien vs Predator" movies. In total this means that 5 different movie franchises (Blade Runner (1 Film), Alien (4 Films), Prometheus (1 Film), Predator (3 Films), & Alien vs Predator (2 Films)) share a universe.
  • Will mark the 6th time the Predators have appeared in a theatrical release after Predator (1987), Predator 2 (1990), AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004), Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007) and Predators (2010).
  • The slogan in the teaser poster, "You'll never see him coming", is a reference to Iron Man 3 (2013), also directed by Shane Black, in which the character of The Mandarin famously uses the line, "You'll never see me coming..."
  • Henry Cavill, Michael B. Jordan, and Zac Efron are rumored for roles in the film.

Fuck Alien Covenant, I want Alien 5!

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if something like that did come up somewhere in movie.

Thank you thank you! I was so pissed when I heard she wasn't in the movie!!! I still wish it starred her and David though.

Noomi Rapace is currently filming on the Alien: Covenant set. This news makes me happy. I liked Prometheus and I was annoyed that they appeared to be dropping her character. It sounds like she might not be in a ton of the movie, but at least she won't be totally disappearing.
Agreed. Even if her appearance only serves to be a bridging narrative I feel it helps the film by having her character, Shaw was it?, appear in this film.

As has been pointed out several times, nobody in the know ever said she wasn't going to be in the movie, only that she wasn't going to be filming on location in Australia.

This is what happens when you pay more attention to the clickbait headlines and the editorialising than to the actual quote.

Not meaning to derail this thread, but in regards to Shane Black's The Predator, I realised yesterday (whilst discussing which Christmas films I actually enjoy watching), that it must be set at Christmas.

Black has stated that Christmas is a "cornerstone" for him, and with Lethal Weapon, The Last Boy Scout, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3, all having Christmas settings/themes, I am now eagerly anticipating either:

(a) Predator on Earth, an urban setting, a Walmart Santa being killed in the crossfire as it hunts through a city preparing for Christmas;
(b) Predator on Earth, a jungle/desert/forest setting, with characters attempting to enjoy a Christmas away from families, with one character hunting down the alien with a Santa hat on;
or (c) the same premise as (b) but in Space, or on an alien world.

Mr Black, make is so. Give me another alt-Christmas movie to have in the cache to help survive the season!

Hugo - Will be watching Gremlins this Christmas Eve as his token nod to the season .

I would love to take this a step farther and get a whole scene set in a Wal-Mart/Target/generic big box store. There are just so many options for improvised weapons, places to hide, distractions, ect in a place like that that a scene set in one could be really exciting.

Eh, I'd agree if each of them had lots of scenes repeating Christmas "values" or such, but given they are just a motif or backdrop for him, I generally find it amusing and allows for a different kind of setting for tent-pole action films without them actually being Christmas films.

Hugo - "Predator Vs Sellotape" coming soon. Gift wrapping has never been so vicious.
