Prometheus 2: Apparently it's happening

So Scott is now embracing the Alien! Haha. I get the feeling he's trying to muscle out Bloomkamp and his Alien 5.

I think it's a combo of things. Scott is back and even though the first movie sucked, he's back. So now fox is saying it's a trilogy.

But also Bloomkamp doesn't have a great track record, so maybe Fox wants more Scott. I wish they could just do both.

So in other words, the movie we should have got (and the Dark Horse comic we did get) 25 years ago.

God, I hate Hollywood sometimes.

I love the idea of picking back up with Newt and Hicks 25 years later. I hope we do get to see it eventually.

Alien3 is amazing (well, the Assembly Cut is), so I'm happy with how things have turned out. As much as I enjoy Blomkamp's eye for design, I really have no desire to watch his Aliens fan fiction that he wants to make just because he, like a bunch of other nerds, are sore about a couple of characters dying.

Did Blomkamp say he's sore about it? I am, but is he?

Ridley Scott is producing under Scott Free Productions and Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. What are your requirements here for it to not be fan fiction? Is the Abramsverse fan fiction?

Thank you, finally a voice of reason!

It would have been interesting to address my post which appears just before yours to counter with why Timby's is a voice of reason. Or why my post is unreasonable in disagreement with Timby.

I do wish Ridley "No more dragons - no xenomorphs" Scott would make up his mind. About the coming Prometheus sequel, or Alien prequels, he now says:

Ridley Scott said:
There was always this discussion: Is Alien, the character, the beast, played out or not? We’ll have them all: egg, face-hugger, chest-burster, then the big boy. I think maybe we can go another round or two.

Sounds to me like some Fox executives had a sit-down with Ridley. "No more bait-and-switch. No more going off on a tangent. We're not waiting two more films for what the audience really wants to see. Either you let the bugs out, or your little riff on Chariots of the Gods stops right here. We've got Blomkamp on speed-dial."

I honestly think you are right. Ridley wanted do 2-3 more movies BEFORE calling it alien and I think Fox went "Fuck that, we made four Alien movies in 30 years, move it along!"

Plus Blomkamp has one whitened several flops, so Fox is probably waiting for them to fix that.

Sounds like things have been shifted into overdrive. No more skirting around xenomorphs

"You're nearly 80 years old Ridley. We're not waiting five movies for you to complete your vision"

I can almost guarantee that's pretty much EXACTLY what happened!

Makes sense, given Covenant's set a decade later. Between duplicitous David, her lingering injuries and limited food/water, Shaw would be lucky indeed to meet her makers before she, er... met her maker.

If I was Ridley, I'd have David be a jerk when asked about Shaw's fate and say (to the audience as much as whoever asks him) "Draw your own conclusions."

As a big fan of Prometheus, I'm immensely disappointed we're not getting a direct continuation of the ending of that movie. I was so excited to see Shaw and David go to the Engineers' Homeworld and get their answers... and now she's not even in the movie?!?! :brickwall:
