Prometheus 2: Apparently it's happening

So Ridley and company had a presentation of several scenes from Covenant at SXSW, followed by a screening of Alien.

- Although it WAS considered early on in development, Ridley himself confirms it: [Voice=Maury Povich] Daniels... you are NOT the mother of Ellen Ripley!! [/Maury]
- It IS David watching a fellow (Billy Crudup's Oram, who becomes captain after Franco's death) get facehugged in the trailer, not Walter.
- The eggs - and thus the Big Chap himself - look slightly different because they are from David's own kit-bashed recipe, not Engineers' Original Recipe. David has been trying to reverse-engineer 'the perfect organism' from the black goo himself, and the other creatures we'll see in the film are results from his earlier experiments in that effort.
- The script for the third prequel film is finalized, and they will be shooting before the year's out.
- Final runtime for Covenant: 2 hours 2 minutes.
- When Scott says six films, he's including Prometheus/Covenant in that number. So up to four more after this is what he's talking.

Oh Jesus Christ... (POSSIBLY HUGE SPOILER WARNING HERE)

For those who don't want to click, it's a series of viral pics Fox briefly put up, then yanked down, of various characters. Some quick-thinking fans saved the pics. It may be nothing more than viral marketing, or it's one hell of a spoiler. You've been warned.

That's a terrible spot you have put me on. I want to know! I don't want to know! I must click! I shouldn't click! What should I do, what should I do?

I don't know how much of a spoiler it is, or just teasing with things that might not actually happen.

We'll see...I am still bothered how this is making Ripley & company NOT the 1st set (or even 2nd set) of humans to encounter an Alien. Prometheus would have been great if it had been the actual origin of the crashed alien ship & eggs that we saw in Alien. And I wouldn't mind the next movie being about something else (i.e. the Engineers). But this is just making excuses to do Alien all over again.

Also, They are put in hibernation because there are YEARS in between flights, right? Adding all this exploration in between now and Ripley is crazy

I resisted (honestly!) but of course the minute I went to Facebook it was literally the first thing on my newsfeed. :censored:

I have to agree with you guys though that it could be nothing else but marketing.

I looked, I believe it's just marketing but you never know...

Yeah, I'm with you guys here. I don't see these really being spoilers. They do stuff like this all the time and it ends having very little to do with the actual movie.

On Alien Day Wednesday, Fox Innovation Lab is going to unveil 'In Utero,' a 360 degree VR experience. Looking forward to the backburster scene? You'll get to experience it early - from the backburster's POV.
