Futurama returned after 9 years. X-Men returned after 27 years! I wouldn't say that the fate of the series is "sealed", only that it won't be coming back for the time being.

I don't think this has anything to do with Netflix. Netflix probably only got the rights to broadcast the first two seasons in certain countries. In order to make a third season, they had to get the rights all over the world. And I don't think there was a deal for a third season. That's why they added that last scene, I think.
Well, since Prodigy is also animated (albeit in 3d), it could make a similar 'comeback'... but to be fair, it seems a tad 'drawn out' to wait nearly a decade for a continuation of the old show - then again, that might not be a bad thing if the current climate isn't 'receptive' enough of it.
I know the Hageman brothers are busy with other projects, so I think I'd prefer a 'shorter hiatus' of a few years rather than the longer one of nearly a decade.
I mean technically speaking, in today's age, if you switch over to animation, you can bypass the ageing problem and even use AI for voice synthesis of the actors who may have passed away or whose voices may have changed too much (with their permission of course).

Yes. Too many TV series go on way too long. I'm a big fan of limited series and/or shows that last five years or less, if they're done well of course. Unfortunately sometimes you're left wanting more. But then again, that's not always a terrible feeling.
I'd rather be left wanting more..

I guess you can still buy the digital copies but streaming it will be gone.
There is a possibility that the deal will be extended. Old Star Trek shows are still airing on Netflix almost all over the world except the US.
Considering how prodigy has been treated I'm not optimistic.
By the way, old Star Trek shows are removed from global every June and added back a few hours later. I personally witnessed this on Netflix Turkey and after they stay on Netflix for another year, the same thing happens again. I think they meet again every year when the license is about to expire, make a 1-year license agreement, add those shows, remove them, and then add them back.
