"Over the age of 20" and "coloring books.." Interesting.

Who knew that the words "adult" and "coloring books" would ever be used in the same sentence together? :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

Also, even if the unintended audience is going to look for the technical details the showrunners are not automatically going to give them out in the first episode. It's ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as the constant "I know this is a kid's show but..." type posts that go on around here. Yes, it is a kid's show, which means we as the wonderful adult Trek audience members are not going to have the same experience as what is intended by the showrunners.

"How thick is the hull plating? How many Cochranes does the warp core pack? How long are the nacelles?"

Cool your jets!

Lot of Kelvin influences in the show. I wouldn't be surprised if....

I mean, has anything been shown to prove otherwise?

Prodigy is definitively not a visual reboot. The Kazon shuttle matches the Kazon design language to a point, we see the Medusan and his container faithfully reproduced, and the team has knowledge of the books.

That is the polar opposite of JJ. Abrams, were one gets the impression that he watched the first 3 episodes of TOS and deduced "Oh Spock and Uhura are in a relationship."

Those things could be in the KU, but yeah, seems a stretch.

I am fine with the KU I just wish they'd keep them separate for clarity. The kids this one is targeting are facing neurotic futures. (joke)

I assume this occurs in the PU. Was there a Canon year given?

It has been said to be 2383 by the production people, but there was no date apparent in the first episode, other than "years" after the crash/landing of the Protostar (which almost certainly has to be past 2378). Lots of unanswered questions and oddities with the setting, and there's a growing theory that the 2383 date was a red herring, and the series (based on Episode 1 alone) fits better centuries beyond that.

But, we also know that Lower Decks Season 2 had to make some changes to character design based upon Prodigy's story, which is rumored to be related to Thadiun Okona (Billy Campbell announced his future appearance on Prodigy and spoiled his plotline a little).

With references to Okona and Chakotay appearing in future episodes, that leads credence to a 2383 setting. However, that doesn't take into account flashbacks, holograms, or temporal shenanigans.

until Okona shows up on Prodigy I’ll remain convinced that Campbell mixed up his Star Treks and was actually talking about his cameo on LDS.
