Presume...Bashir?

We just watched Doctor Bashir, I presume..and I still really like this episode. It is a very interesting character study and centers around a topic that in years to come may become more viable..

The torment that Julian and his parents have to resolve is handled very well in this episode. In the future as DNA manipulation becomes more acceptable, you could see this kind of problem coming up. Did his parents have Julian augmented for their good, or his? It is clear, even after the mother gives her timely explaination, that, at best, it was a fifty fifty split.

Star Trek has puttered around the DNA stigma for sometime. Enterprise would take it in far more scope...but to me? This little episode, and as seen through the eyes of a parent (which I am now and wasn't when this episode first aired,) I can really identify with the subtle take on the issue..which to me is Star Trek at it's best...

I agree. It starts almost like a comedy but ithas a true emotional cetner. DS9 is better for havign a great many episodes like this. Sure Sacrifice of Angels and Pale Moonlight and Visitor gave it its reputation, but shows like this give it soul
