Preferred animation style for new TAS

Filmation had a whole slew of techniques, didn't they? Besides the mouth cover, they had:
- over the shoulder/from behind
- zoom in on something else (the speaker's eyes, the communicator, etc.)
- switch to silhouettes
 :techman:

I guess I kinda like the "Disney" style of cartoons. For example Aladdin, or Pocahontas. Although some like Moana do the "huge eyes trope" which I am not a fan of.

I really hope not. That style is horribly infantile and IMO an insult to any skilled pro animator required to use it.

No offense, but then what kind of animation style would you want that could work for a budget for a kid's cartoon?

I think some people have unrealistic exceptations for the animation budget for this kids cartoon on Nickelodeon.

Just like live-action Trek TV has a limited budget, so too would animated Trek.

My preference would be claymation:

Preference - The style used for the more serious DC animated movies and Korra, atleast for non-space scenes.

Likely to get - Either 3D animation or unshaded 2D animation that looks like badly rotoscoped animation from the 60's

Preferred- "Voltron"

Likely- Something like "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command"

Tactical Nuclear Nope- "ReBoot" (not that that's likely, but any cheap 3D CGI)

Filmation style. I wont be able to to take a Star Trek based animated series seriously if it has a different animation style.
I'm not sure about the Nikelodian show, but Lower Decks is going to be a comedy, so you aren't expected to take it seriously.
For Lower Decks I wouldn't mind something along the line of either Seth McFarlane's shows, or maybe Rick and Morty.
As for the Nick show, that depends on if it's a more serious adventure series or comedic. If it's more serious, I would want something a bit less stylized, so a similar style to The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra would be my preference, if it's comedic, I'd be OK with something a bit more exaggerated.

Please don't tell me we're going to have to include a comedy series as canon.

Just wait until they refer to Lower Decks on STD or Section 31 show or some other new show :D. Collective internetz will explode.

I have feeling that will probably depend on how grounded it is. If it plays it fairly straight with the comedy just coming from the characters and the crazy situations they find themselves in, I could see it being canon, but if it goes completely insane and ridiculous I could see it being non-canon.

If the budget wasn't going to be an issue I would hope for something like the following. These styles would of course be wasted on a comedy series though. Something similar I feel would be good for a show perhaps aimed at all ages and on the more serious side. It doesn't have to be exactly like these but should be along these lines.

Gundam Unicorn Mini Series.

I do like the Star Wars Resistance style though. Something similar to that would be good as well. Whatever the style it needs to be clean, detailed, energetic, and work with space ships and characters in real proportions. etc.

I see Lower Decks as more or less a Star Trek version of Red Dwarf, but aimed at a younger audience.

"From Tellar Prime to Vulcan, yes sir I've been around..."

I could see them going for something with a bit of an anime flavor, but I really can't see them going for a full anime style, unless they actually work with one of the Japanese studios on the animation.
I want them to cross-over and have the animated characters remain animated, a la Roger Rabbit.
That would be amazing.
